Top NTM (New to Me) Authors

Just a handful of entries, no multiples.

Bottom of the Barrel

Just a handful of entries, no multiples. Which I guess is a good thing!

Summary

Thanks to the ten of us who posted our top reads: Barry, Bonnie, Dan, Gladys, Sandi, Melodie, Sherry, Shomeret, Ann, and moi. Down from 14 last year; wonder why that was? Welcome to new poster this year, Gladys!

Lots of great books got one mention, but as Dan suggested one year I won’t list them all here. I encourage folks to go back to the original thread if you’re looking for other recommendations.

Once again, keep up the good (reads) work and I look forward to seeing what we all read in 2021!

Ann (annrumsey) | 16928 comments Thanks for compiling the results Carol! There are some other terrific recommendations in the individual lists found here:

Sherry | 4517 comments thanks for doing this, carol. i'm behind on the candice fox books- still have to read redemption point. all those lovely ARCs i get from work get in the way of reading the books on my book shelves, not that I'm complaining..lol

message 4: by Barbara K (new)

Barbara K Yes, Carol, thanks for your work on this! I’ve just realized that I never did post my favorites this year. My faves would have included Louise Penny for series or author, and I would have voted for Long Bright River and Gone by Midnight.

Another group read that was on my top 2020 list was The Glass Hotel.

I will attempt to do better at responding next year. :-)

It is always fun to see everyone's choices.

BarryP (barrypz) | 3498 comments Thank you for your efforts. You can see on a monthly basis that our interests are broad. Makes it hard to come together on a 'best of' list.

message 9: by Ann (new)

Ann (annrumsey) | 16928 comments Barry: good point! And timing factors in too. Some of us get new releases read slower or sooner, sometimes putting them in two different years of compiled results.

You are right, Ann. I noticed that a couple of my top reads were on the previous year's list.

Our interests *are* broad, and some folks' books never make the compilation list because their interests are so wide. But we seems to always land on the same top series and M/T authors.

message 12: by Dan in AZ (new)

Dan in AZ | 2960 comments I usually don’t include favorite authors or series in my lists unless I’ve read at least one book by the author that year.

message 13: by Ann (new)

Ann (annrumsey) | 16928 comments Dan: I try to stick to listing series that I read during the year too.
Luckily plenty of new books by favorite authors in most years.

it almost seems that our favorite authors don't change from year to year. Carol, can you check that?

I think they do change slightly but not much. One of our top authors (Sandford) puts out a book every year, so that doesn't help, LOL. When I get a minute I'll go back and compare years, and you can too Sherry since they're all here in the Best of thread! ;-)

Thanks for posting this! I've been checking, but in a confused way looking for 2021.
