Lara and Peter are the perfect couple, and they're relishing now that senior year has started. Enter typical senior year problems- where are they going to go college? how close will they be to each other? We get prom, we get the end of year "beach week", signing yearbooks, all those fun senior year subjects. Lara Jean is wonderfully flawed, she has friends who bring out the best in her. I LOVE her family, the sisterhood, and now the WEDDING DRAMA!- (dad is now proposing to his girlfriend, but older sister Margot barely knows her!). This book has baking, wedding planning, karaoke, impromptu road trips, SO MUCH FUN. The story is so cute, so YA, so entertaining. Plus as with all the books- the Korean-ness.
I did feel like Peter was more of a "prop boyfriend" than a fully fleshed out character now- but I guess he was formed in other books, so we already know about him. Lara Jean continues to get more layers, and we get more and more inside her head and learn how her past effects her now, and her decision-making. Now about that ending.... (view spoiler)[The whole series has been hinted at- "Don't be the girl who goes to college with a boyfriend". I LOVED the break up, the heartache- the maturity of loving each other, coming full circle, but knowing they would have held each other back in college by being in their relationship. Also c'mon- Peter was being a dick in the end, not even happy for her when her dad gave her TICKEST TO KOREA (hide spoiler)] I thought this was a great message, and I related SO MUCH to it. But then (view spoiler)[ The book went back on everything, and they decided to stay together (hide spoiler)], BOO.
I'll be watching the 3rd Netflix movie V-day weekend when it comes out- I'm SUPER EXCITED since part of it was filmed in Seoul. I hope Lana Condor stays mainstream (even if she isn't Korean).
