Are there books you absolutely won't suggest anyone? Like never?
Tell us which books are the worst according to you.

Ahhh The Sisters Grimm by Menna Van Praag. I cannot. I have this pretty hardcover of it but it let me down so much! It was a gift but still. Sooo bad.

I have read other series from this author and they have been great. I made the mistake of reading the first chapter of this one because it was an extra in one of her other books. It seemed like it could be entertaining ya fantasy comparable to The Selection.... It's like 600 pages of nothing. It's fantasy because the author created the world but there is no magic or advanced tech. By the end it turned into a western; which is so not my genre. Needless to say I have no intention of continuing this series.

The Turn of the Key
Many liked this book but in my opinion it's not worth it.

This book is very graphic and contains many triggering topics. Basically imagine every trigger warning that you've ever seen and know that all of those trigger warnings are needed for this book.

Oh great that you mentioned it here... maybe people uncomfortable with these things will avoid it.
But how was the book?

It was awful. There was no point to the book and the characters were all unlikeable

Transcendence
Blood Orange
Kindly don't.

message 9: by Arundhati (new)

Arundhati | 1454 comments I never usually feel this for any book as I believe every book has a audience somewhere. But there is one book I do feel people should avoid. It is The Star-Touched Queen by Roshani Chokshi. And I say it because this was her debut novel and her later works are some of my favorites. It will be such a shame if people started with this one and decide to never pick any of her work. Her later works The Gilded Wolves is somuch better. Even recommended to fans of Six of Crows. The problem with The Star touched queen is it tries to pull in so many elements of Hindu mythology and so much use of flowery language that the plot just gets too confusing. So do check out her later works but maybe avoid this one?

I agree with you. A book that is my favourite may be disliked by others and vice versa. For example, I didn't like The Hobbit but so many others adore it. I wouldn't tell someone not to read it just bcoz I didn't like it. Everyone's tastes differ.

message 11: by Arundhati (new)

Arundhati | 1454 comments Well isn't that the beauty of reading. It is very subjective. Still as everyone has every right to share the books they love, it is very much interesting and entertaining to listen people rant about something they disliked. :P

Thanks for telling this, because I was going to read her books soon, and now I won't pick up The Star Touched Queen first.

Yeah, absolutely! We must rant sometimes..😂

Arundhati | 1454 comments You can pick up the gilded wolves. It's a heist based story which has a bunch of characters. Yeah, it does get it's inspiration from Six of Crows.

I read this book last week and its very fictional and too unrealistic and the whole thing was built up but it was very anti climatic.

That's funny. I really liked his book. So it just depends on what triggers you hate. I agree that it was very graphic, but it was also written very well
