5++/5 This book was awesome! I loved it, and was reserving the second book when I was but halfway done with this one. The writing is solid, the characters are well developed, and I am placing The Merciful Crow on my recommended selections shelf as soon as our copies hit my mailbox. Fie is a member of the Crow caste, who are charged with the task of dealing mercy to plague victims and burning the dead in order to remove the curse of the plague from a town or city. Fie is a strong young woman preparing to take over the role of Chief from her Father. This book has Adventure, Romance, Fantasy....all the things! Your students will love The Merciful Crow!

Strong characters, a parent who loves and supports his daughter, action, adventure, romance and a young woman coming of age and finding her strengths, who would not love this book. I enjoyed reading it and would have loved it as a teen.
