the lady who smashed the patriarchy (wishfullybookmad) | 10 comments Hey there!
I realized we don't have a space where members can request to have debate topics created. What issues are important to YOU? What do you care about? You can talk and/or request a topic here! :)

sarah (bookworm_s78) | 28 comments I think we should make a topic on authors writing books outside their own experiences, such as white people writing about POC, or allo cishets writing about LGBTQ+.

sarah (bookworm_s78) | 28 comments Also could we make an entire discussion about problematic content in books? The individual topics would be about the problematic books.

Rafia (rafiagreste) Hi Poet!
I was thinking about a debate where we can talk about Islam and how people are normalizing the fact that apparently muslims are oppressed beings.

几ㄖ几丨 (sarcasticwatermelon) | 111 comments Could we have a debate topic about Critical Race Theory and if we think it should be taught in schools?

message 9: by Maple (new)

Maple (bookish_maple) @Rafia & @Noni
I can make both of those! Can you guys tell me how I should introduce them in each thread! Thanks!

message 10: by 几ㄖ几丨 (new)

几ㄖ几丨 (sarcasticwatermelon) | 111 comments For the Critical Race Theory, you can say:

"What are your thoughts on Critical Race Theory? Do you think it should be taught in schools?

message 11: by Maple (new)

Maple (bookish_maple) okay!

message 13: by Rafia (new)

Rafia (rafiagreste) For the islam one:

Islam is being normalized as a religion that opresses women, where women are not allowed to have the freedom they deserve. In reality its actually quite different. What are your thoughts?

not sure if this is important enough, but can we have a topic on how a lot of mental illness is misrepresented to the point where many don't know the actual meaning behind them?

Jess (oracle_of_madness) (oracle_of_madness) I agree with Alice, that Mental Illness is a very important topic. There are lots of stigmas and irrational beliefs about each or all Mental illnesses that just aren't true.... maybe some are true in the most extreme of cases, but these beliefs are definitely not the norm.
