Hi everyone,

It's really cool to see this group grow so quickly! I have a crush on every single one of you.

A few people have messaged me about selecting a book to read as a group. We'll have a separate discussion thread in which members can post their thoughts and, if there's enough interest, a group Zoom call towards the end of May.

But first, we need to choose a book! In the future we'll take suggestions and organize a poll - but for our first read, I think it'd be cool to support one of our own. A few GofG members are published authors (hotttt), and so our first read (unless anyone has an objection) will be Stephen Van Dyck's People I've Met From the Internet.

Feel free to post thoughts below. If anyone would like to organize the Zoom call, let me know!

Talk soon, cuties,
Josh

For all the pals in Europe - the book is available on Amazon, so it shouldn’t be a problem.

Fabio | 34 comments Mod
US friends, the book is on amazon as well:

Fernando Castillo | 2 comments I am very interested in the book but I can't get a digital copy which is a little unfortunate because I would love to read it.

Guys, I'm gonna ask to the author if it's available a pdf version of it, is that okay for you all?

message 16: by Stephen (new)

Stephen van Dyck (stephenvandyck) | 5 comments Hi all! I'm honored you're choosing my book for your first book club read! I'd love to join you for a Zoom call Q&A. While the press hasn't released a digital version of PIMFTI, I'll happily send people a PDF, if you email me at svandyc@gmail.com. Fabio asked about payment. How does a $10 suggested donation sound? No big deal if folks are broke. My Venmo is @Stephen-vanDyck.

Thanks again for choosing PIMFTI. Excited to e-meet you all!

Stephen van Dyck

message 19: by Richard (new)

Richard Derus (expendablemudge) | 20 comments I've got the tree-book as of today, so are we thinking of a schedule for discussions? Or just "ooo I read this bit and..." style? I don't want to spoiler anyone's read, in case there are spoilerphobes....

Actually we've been thinking about a zoom conference at the end of the month so that we can talk all together, we'll have the author as well and there's gonna be a Q&A with him. :)

message 23: by Andrew (new)

Andrew | 7 comments I haven't received my copy yet. Still waiting. I'd be excited for the author to join us. Josh, have we decided on a date/time for this yet?

message 24: by Fabio (new)

Fabio | 34 comments Mod
I ordered the book too! It should arrive in one week.

Fabio | 34 comments Mod
Guys, I still have to talk with Josh about it but it'll probably be at the end of the month. it'll be tricky to find a time since we're all over the world and time zones are tricky between US and EU, but we'll get thought this!

Hi! Yes, we're going to discuss and get back to you all. Might make sense to push the date back to June to give everyone time to get the book and read it, yeah?

message 27: by Andrew (new)

Andrew (v171) | 1 comments Just got the book in the mail. Excited to start it! I can already tell that it'll likely resonate with me as someone who has.... extensive history with early 90s AOL chat rooms, early craigslist, and geocities :P

message 28: by Stephen (new)

Stephen van Dyck (stephenvandyck) | 5 comments Update: Amazon appears to be sold out, thanks to you guys! :-) If you're having difficulty locating a copy, it should be available everywhere books are sold, including your local independent bookstore. You can also order it from SPD:

We'll have a poll to choose the date very soon! Might be hard to coordinate a time for people around the globe - does anyone have any suggestions for a time that might work for everyone? Maybe early afternoon EST (Eastern Standard Time) on a Saturday or Sunday? That would make it early evening in Western Europe (which is where a big percentage of the members seem to be located). Let me know your thoughts :)

message 33: by Edward (new)

Edward (iheartowenmeany) | 25 comments I'm in. Got the only copy in our library system.

message 34: by Georgi (new)

Georgi Kumanov | 20 comments I can't find the book on Amazon's kindle or Audible, neither on Storytel. I'm pretty sure that it is not in the book shops in my country, so any suggestions where I can find it on e-book or audiobook?

message 35: by Fabio (new)

Fabio | 34 comments Mod
@Georgi you can write to Stephen (the author) for a pdf version of it, then you can convert it on calibre as AZW file! (It may sounds difficult but believe me it’s not)

message 36: by Georgi (new)

Georgi Kumanov | 20 comments Do you thing that he will send it just like that? I'll try it. Thanks, Fabio!

Hey! I spoke to Stephen and determined that the weekends of June 26-27 or July 11-12 would be good! Below is a link so you can choose the day that works best for you.

Times listed are in Eastern Standard Time (EST) - I picked 2pm because that seems like it could accommodate the most people globally (11am for our West Coast friends and early evening in much of Europe, but let me know if you have any thoughts about that! Please vote by this coming Monday, 6/7, so we can finalize the date. Thank you all!

Hi everyone! I'll send out a group message this week, but every respondent to the survey selected Sunday, July 11th @ 2:00-3:30pm as the best time for our call. I'll send out a Zoom link and more info closer to the date.
