Donald III | 5 comments Hello, looking for reviews for my newly released novel. It's an action genre that combines elements from Devil May Cry and Castlevania with a cool modern twist. It's a cool read, and it isn't long.

Travis (softcon) | 65 comments Yes, but is it LitRPG? Didn't see anything in the description that would indicate it is.

Donald III | 5 comments I do have a story with RPG elements Called The Verse of Estoria. Magic summons and a lot of action. Blood Souls and Sacrifice is more of a action game story with whips swords and vampires. But if you’re looking for rpg The verse of estoria is the story you’re looking for.

Apparently not.
Looks like someone posted in the wrong group.

Donald III | 5 comments Ok, I'm going to say this. When I hear game lit, I'm thinking stories inspired by video games. Games like Metal Gear, Final Fantasy, Legend of Legaia, Legend of Mana, ect. Which is the inspiration I draw from to write my novels. Blood souls and Sacrifice is a combination of DMC and Castlevania SOTN.

It has epic fights with swords, whips, guns, vampiric power AND various hot women ranging from a doctor, a mad scientist, a waifu stock broker, an heiress and more. It even has a final boss towards the end of the book. If that's not game lit, then I don't know what is. If you don't believe me, check it out. It has gotten a few ratings, so you won't be wasting your time.

Thank you and have a wonderful day.

If it doesn't take place inside of a game, then it isn't gamelit. Stories inspired by games don't qualify as gamelit. Doom inspired an entire genre of books, many of which were certainly interesting to read, but they had nothing to do with gamelit. This looks like the same thing. A distinction some may not agree with, but nonetheless, inspired by a game isn't the same thing as gamelit.
Sorry.

Donald III | 5 comments Well thanks for the insight. It was a mistake on my part.

Devan | 29 comments I agree. GameLit tends to have less stats, pop boxes, etc than LitRPG. That being said, those features along with some sort of leveling progression are core to the genre.

That being said I am interested and will give it a try. Reminds me of Black tech Internet cafe or Hail to the king. Thanks for the shout out!

Inside a literal game? Or with a strong presence of game mechanics in the form of classes, level ups, skills, hit points, mana, etc.? Because to be honest, except for Bofuri I haven't read a story that takes place in a literal game in years.

Rebekah Donnell (countrygalbookworm) | 4 comments Play to Live series (yes, older) was inside a game. Good Guys series (and the alternate Bad Guys series)
World of Strata (umm, not sure if that is the right name but the second book is coming out soon)
Life Reset
World Tree Online

All awesome books and all within game worlds.

Btw, If I mistake a book name, make a really strange word switch, or make glaring grammar errors, I apologize now. I deal with Post Concussion Syndrome. This is nothing new for me: blow to the noggin was in 2007. From that, I gained the almost constant "Effect" of Aphasia (switching words). If I go back and revise a couple of times, I usually find the errors, but with life, I do not always have time.

Robin | 14 comments Matthew Wolf, just published a LitRPG novel, Skythief, Book One of The Realm Walker series. Wolf is the author of the fantasy series, The Ronin Saga, which has over 200,000 copies sold, 5000 5 stars, and reached top 5 for fantasy books on Audible.

Skythief is a story about a plucky young thief named Dren living in a dystopian New York. Dren falls into a magical portal into a medieval world and now has to climb a world spanning tree to stop an ancient evil.

Fortunately, Dren has a secret: he's a genetically modified human. Unfortunately, he’s a ‘failed’ one. Now he has to find out why.

Pluck will only get you so far when gods and monsters collide.

Skythief is soon to be released on Audible, narrated by Michael Kramer performer of Wheel of Time and Sanderon’s Stormlight Archives.

We are excited to share this action-packed and fun novel. Please reach out and we would be happy to share the ebook with you.

Thank you so much! A review from you would mean the world to us!

Best,

The Skythief Team
