A highly reputed action spy-fi series I myself must admit I'd never heard of.

42 titles in the 'Sam Durrell' series, beginning in the 1940s.

Durrell is a Cajun-heritage CIA operative. The Durrell works are fast fast fast action, slick prose, exciting foreign intrigue, and authoritatively-written tradecraft.

Comes very strongly recommended. I don't have time to explore Aarons myself but I pass the name on to you all.

If you want a James Bond romp without James Bond --arguably the equal of a Bond read -- this is the ticket.
