Clockwork Princess
question
Am I the only one who HATES Tessa?

I've been thinking about this a lot, and I have to say - I don't like Tessa. At all. I think she acted very selfishly, and I blame her for the pain she caused to both Will and Jem. She wanted both of them and couldn't choose. Not that she had the right to choose. I don't see how such great guys like Will and Jem could fall in love with a girl like her in the first place! I know that she's beautiful and all, but she is nothing more than that. Both Will and Jem deserve much better. Personally, I think they were much better off before Tessa came along.
So, anyone else who doesn't like Tessa? I'd really like to know!

Ya and when Will died I don`t think either of them or their children deserved that pain.Poor Jem had to watch the girl he loves have children with his best friend and then Will who is like a brother die. Oh and in the Bane Chronicles I think it was sick when Jem came to tend too Jamie and they all seemed to bask in the delight of each others presence in spite of the long going love triangle.

Oh but I still love her books and have all of them don`t get me wrong Cassandra Clare is a genius author.
IDK she's straight up annoying, I mean I just don't like her personality. Also she seems very nosey.
This makes me so angry. You guys are all entitled to your opinions and stuff but hear me out. Do you ever wonder why you hate her? You guys all hate her because 2 guys liked her and as you say she was not "deserving" of them. Alright. If this was a different case and it was a guy with a love triangle of 2 girls everyone would be on the men's side because that's what we do. We hate on girls and make ourselves believe that their worthless and that the men deserve better and more importantly if we were in that situation we would find an alternative solution. No that's not the case, the only option that Tessa had was to be with both of them and if you want to blame Tessa for not being able to choose a guy then you can also blame Will and Jem for not moving on.
The only reason you probably hate her is because Cassandra Clare didn't give her a good personality like Stephanie Meyer didn't give Bella one. So don't hate on Tessa, hate on the person that wrote her to be like that.
I personally liked the book a lot and I also wondered about most of these things, but then I realized "hey, girls already get too much hate, and us being girls are the key provider of all of this we shouldn't". So, I blame Will and Jem for not being able to move on to other people.
I'm sorry for this long rant I just hate it when people hate on girls for things that if a guy did they wouldn't get hated on. So let's end this woman hating its 2015

I disagree, she was a shape-shifter and she was special. There are some times I wish I was like her. It was a burden at the beginning losing Nate and having to chose between 2 people who were almost alike, after all they were parabatai. I understand her, maybe she was not used to having to make decisions, and at the end she is inmortal and she can make her own decisions. Well Cassandra Clare has left us with something to think about...
Tessa is okay to me. I don't hate her character, but I feel like her character needs more development. The love triangle to me feels like it needs more development as well. Tessa had an attraction to Will that she was trying to fight at first and she saw Jem as a friend - a nice guy. But then the development was rushed and all of sudden she apparently wanted Jem as well? Honestly, I've followed Cassie Clare since her fanfiction days. And somehow, I connected with her character development in her fanfiction more than I do in her original series.
Quite honestly, I disagree with almost all of you. I'm not dissing you guys or anything, but, in truth, I have quite the opposite opinion in this discussion. I haven't re-read any of The Infernal Devices in a pretty long time, so let me just say what I need to say to all of you people. To the people who hate Tessa because she doesn't deserve any of the guys and is too inconsiderate, etc.: Have any of you ever loved ANYONE? The people you love sometimes don't choose you first over everything in life. They don't always factor in your feelings, especially when you're in the situations these characters are in. You people need to remember that these characters are fictional human beings, but well-done fictional human beings. Why? Because they have flaws. They can't choose or fight their feelings, they're just there. And if that were true, I don't think either of them would. So stop hating Tessa because of the circumstances of their situation.
To the people who think that, overall, Tessa, Will, and Jem's relationship was unnatural, etc.: What right do YOU have to declare what you deem is "natural?" Seriously. A lot of things are "unnatural," so deal with it. Technology is "unnatural." Interracial marriage is "unnatural." Gay/Lesbian marriage is "unnatural." Times are a'changing, so get on with it and move on with your life. They aren't polygamists, and there is nothing wrong with loving two people.
To the people who think that Tessa is being passed around like a beach ball: She does happen to have consent with all this, you know. This wasn't back in the ancient times where women were considered property. She does say yes to Will's proposal and also runs after Jem in the epilogue. And it's not like Will and Jem were completely ay okay with the situation. It wasn't like they hated each other, because they had a relationship that was bigger than jealousy or envy, but that doesn't mean Will was happy with Jem and Tessa being engaged, and Jem didn't really feel anything as a silent bro.
Go ahead, comment and say that I'm wrong, that none of this has to do with the reason you don't like Tessa, etc., etc. You won't change my opinion.

I feel like series like these will be fan favourite female readers. I mean she gets to enjoy two guys. With good story and plot.. that's fantastic. But no men will like this simply because to them she is an undeserving bitch. They will more associate with the male characters specially when it comes to romance.
So , middle finger for guys, because there is hardly entertainment media where romance is the main focus and the guy enjoys two girls while confused. Except for hentai, action anime etc .
An actual good story with that premise..!? No.
There is another anime named " vampire knight" it has that similar approach to romance. It's practically same. Girl enjoys one guy until he dies and the other guy comes begging like a shameless dog with zero self respect and pride to f a women who rejected you.
Even if this novel series has good plot , I will simply tag this as "ROMANTIC WISH-FULLFILMENT for women.

I'm not keen on love triangles in general, but Tessa fell in love with Will first. But, Will was hot and cold with her. Then, she quickly fell in love with Jem. It happened too suddenly. The biggest issue I have with the love triangle is... the boys are ok with it. Will eventually got to have Tessa, and after that Jem was waiting to receive her affections. There was too much of a 3 way vibe. I wouldn't want to marry someone who is in love with someone else.
I don't think I like her either. It also would have been better without the epilogue right? I mean I don't think I wanted to read about Tessa's immortality.
