Sounds like a plan. Last night I finished a book that I had no clue was a trilogy so I want to read this before book 2 because if I read book two that will lead to book 3 and then it will be catch ya Tues or wed lol.

Sounds good!

I think this is the first book I’ve read with a female being called a bastard. I think this is the first illegitimate daughter I’ve come across, maybe because I don’t read much historical.

I didn't pick up on that but it wouldn't surprise me. I saw an interview with Shonda Rhimes. She mentioned she enjoyed mixing things up in her shows. She does a good job of it.

I thought that in the show as well. (wonder if they will take that through to his season. In the show he never really came out as gay. Was just suggested)
The book he is straight with questionable friends.
Could be that when this was originally publish written MM wouldn't have done well

I've been wl derinf that as well. I haven't read a that far yet but I was also wondering about the heir. Surely he would have thrown them out already. Or at least out of the London home after both girls made their debut.

I'm working on campus this week and next instead of remotely. That gives me 10 to 12 hours of listening time, depending on how many times I'm interrupted during the day. I'll listen to almost a book a day.
When I'm working from home, my grandson comes over after school. He doesn't interrupt me, but I need to keep an ear open to make sure he isn't getting into anything. LOL

This is explained at the end. Kind of.

Glad you liked it. It just sucked you in right?. Benedict’s mom was just a force at the end. Benedict with her was awwww.
The second epilogue was awesome. I would have read a whole book about them.

I love Victoria Bridgerton. She knows how to deal with conniving women.
I would read a whole book too.

Still behind. He's just left her at his mother's residence and his mother has questioned her. I just know she will work it all out. Because she recognized her. I wonder if she knew her father. I'm thinking he would have been around when she came out....

It sure is! I love how it doesn’t read like a typical historical.

I love the whole Cinderella thing. The mom is a saint. So understanding and accepting of everyone.
I can’t help it I keep thinking of the show not a fan of his casting.

This author likes Father's dying age 40 ish. And someone suddenly.
She also like the guys getting married at 30.
What fascinates me is that the eldest sister got married first and now she's having the rest marrying in order of age. I'd have thought Eloise might have been married already but shes is 20 years old already.
Anyone know who's next?

It's actually interesting who all pops in my head while reading and who I might use the voice but not the face.

This is why I like reading the book after a show. It wipes everything about the show out of my memory. I vaguely remember the actors who played the various siblings, but I'm not sure I remember who they played.
I remember Regé-Jean Page because he is so stunning. Phoebe Harriet Dynevor is on the cover of the book now so she pops in my head sometimes when I'm reading. Other than that, the rest are a blur.
I will watch season one again when we get close to season 2 releasing.

I rarely associate a book character with an actor unless they author says something like he looks like Mark Harmon (I watched NCIS last night) when he was younger or something like that.

I remember once listening to an In death audio with Susan Erickson. After I kept hearing Peabody and Trina with what she had assigned them. To this day I still have that voice of Trina. Not so much the others.

Just my opinion but can I be shallow and say he doesn't do it for me?😂

I'll be re-watching too . I missed a lot at first until I started watching alone so I could concentrate.

You are right the guys get married at 30 so they can play around for ten years then they marry 18-20 year olds. No play time for the girls. The balls don't even seem fun. Too much like work to snare a husband.

We like who we like. I for instance didn't like the guy who played Anthony. 😂 😂

The more I'm reading the more I think the girls really had no life of their own. Everything was decided by other. And. Usually the males in their life. The Bridgerton, for the most part being the exception.
Imagine all those balls you had to go to. Only certain dance you could do. Staying up and o. Your feet for hours, with ly polite conversation. The rules of society. Peer pressure of that era would also have been immense! Having worn a corset or two in my life, if made well I actually loved wearing them
so that would have been fine but the shirts and petticoat?! Nope. I remember how I had my ritual the one or two times I had those volumous skirts and petticoats on. Before getting dress make sure to go to the bathroom and don't drink anything but sips after that.
Is it weird that I would have wanted to be in the working class rather than the ton? More freedom if nothing else.

No the girls didn’t have a life. The girls went from their parents house to their husbands and then they started popping out the kids. Looks and money was everything, it seemed like. No one wanted to dance with the ugly girls geez.
Did the working class really have more freedom? Depends on the employer I guess and what job.

I suppose your right. But I was thinking more those who had their own business. Those not part fo the household.
The other thing I wondered was what made the Bridgertons wealthy. Anthony has the estates and all that brings in. But how is it that all the brothers can afford their own residences. And Colin can just go travel? Not only did Benedict have a London residence but a place in the country.

I wondered that too. I don’t see any of them working or having any set schedules. In just these two books I counted 5 residences.

I finally finished. I very much loved the second epilogue, môre than I did the others. Posy getting her HEA.
I would have loved if the mother somehow got run off to the colonies. But that's just me wanting her to have struggled a few years after how she treated Sophie for years. Both the mother and daughter.
Voilet Bridgerton. She is the best. She really shon in this book. What a stunning woman

In some ways the working class did have more freedom. They could travel without so many restrictions for one thing. Also, a father didn't think twice about leaving a business to his daughter. The aristocracy were afraid if their property was broken up among their sons, it would be devalued.
With families like the Bridgetons, trusts were set up so all sons could have property even if it wasn't the large plots of land like the eldest son,

Me too Michelle. It looks like she will pay as far as participating in major society functions. I don't think she has any friends so I don't think she will be invited to minor functions either. That is big for a woman like her.

Thank you Sharon. I'm glad I asked.

Yes that would be great. I very easily could fall further down the Bridgerton rabbit hole now but duty calls with all my challenge books to finish this month.

Must admit Anthony had me questioning if I wanted to continue and Benedict pulled me back in.
