Any other topics you’d like to discuss? Your overall opinion of the story?

Lauren (laurenjberman) | 1808 comments I am not a fan of this book. The writing was a mess, the characters (aside from Reed and Sylvie) were not at all likable and the romance fell flat. I did enjoy the mystery, but even that wasn't enough to make up for the rest.

I am glad we did not start with this series!

Sharon Kallenberger Marzola | 3474 comments This is not a good story. I expected more after the New Orleans books that we read.

I disliked the beginning, however it did pick up in the second half. If this was my introduction to Lisa Jackson, I would drop out of reading any more of her books.

Anita (anitanodiva) | 2973 comments I wasn't a fan of this one either.

Lisa - (Aussie Girl) The first half of the story was really slow. And I hated the romance between Caitlyn and Adam. But I must admit I enjoyed the second half as all the pieces of the mystery came together. And the New Orleans tie in worked for me too.

The first half of the book was painful. There was so much repetition and too many pages devoted to being in Caitlyn’s head. Adam didn’t even show up until the 50% mark. There was too much description of meaningless stuff that didn’t add to the mystery, characterization or plot.

The second half went more swiftly and the mystery was interesting. But, this woman killed nine people, a lot of them in the last six months and no one was suspicious. I found that hard to swallow.

This wasn’t my cuppa and like Sharon, if it wasn’t tied to the New Orleans series, I wouldn’t continue. The characters were stereotypical in most instances, which was a turnoff. The mystery saved it.

Sharon Kallenberger Marzola | 3474 comments For such a mediocre story, it did give us a lot to talk about. I guess that is one redeeming feature.

Jonetta (ejaygirl) | 9285 comments Mod
You have a point!

Anita (anitanodiva) | 2973 comments Then, should we read the the rest of this series or go back to the New Orleans Series? This book was so painful, I vote we go back.

Lisa - (Aussie Girl) Sorry, I really like reading in order. So I'll be reading the next one even if we go back to New Orleans. Can't help myself..

Anita, we presented the option to sit out on this series at the start. I’ll understand completely if you choose to do that. I’ll be gritting my teeth through the next one as, like Lisa, I’m rather manic about reading in order.

Fingers crossed that it improves.

Anita (anitanodiva) | 2973 comments I just may sit it out then. I have a heavy ARC schedule for July and August and I just haven't really liked Lisa Jackson as an author.

Sharon Kallenberger Marzola | 3474 comments Is there only one more in the Savannah series that goes with New Orleans? Right?

Jonetta (ejaygirl) | 9285 comments Mod
Right now, there are two more books in the series but I’m not sure the third one will clear up any more loose ends. It’s scheduled to be read right before the last book in the New Orleans series so we’ll know by then.

Anita, you’ll be missed but I completely understand. And, if it turns out to be a winner, we will let you know.

Lynn (ftbooklover) Isn't the third one in this series at the very end?
I just found myself disgusted with the whole book. In the beginning, especially, the writing was poor. I really hate stories that use split personalities in this way as a plot device. The Caitlyn/Adam relationship seemed just...wrong. The number of underdeveloped characters took away from a halfway decent mystery. I really didn't like this book at all.

Thanks, Jonetta.

Lauren (laurenjberman) | 1808 comments I'm willing to give the next one a shot because I do have my reading in order fetich, but also because I want to find out if there is character development for Reed and Nikki's character is intriguing.

Anita (anitanodiva) | 2973 comments I read the blurb for the next one and it looks to be Reed and Gillette's story, which should be interesting to see how that comes about. I'm just not sure I like Lisa Jackson's writing, although I have read a couple of her books I really liked. I'm split about reading the next one.
