Amber Martingale | 340 comments Jim Butcher's Codex Alera series:

Furies of Calderon: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2...

Academ's Fury: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/1...

Cursor's Fury::https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2...

Captain's Fury: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/3...

Princeps' Fury::https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2...

and the series conclusion, First Lord's Fury:https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2...

This is the one currently in progress.

Gaius Sextus, and his grandson Gaius Octavian, are just two of the heroes of the series. Others are Kitai, the Marat Ambassador and Tavi's (Octavian) woman; Varg, the Warmaster and Ambassador for the Canim (though he doesn't show up until Academ's Fury) and Gaius Isana (Octavian's mother and his father's widow. His father was Gaius Septimius, Princeps of Alera, who was murdered the very day of Octavian's birth.)

These are Jim's tributes to Prof. Tolkien, the Roman Empire and the US military all in one series.
