Char | 17459 comments Aficionados! Can you believe it's almost August? The theme for our August reads is: HOT HOT HOT!

Nominate books that are available on Kindle/Nook that have the colors of fire on the covers. Fire means a prevalence of RED, ORANGE, AND/OR YELLOWS on the cover!

Books that don't fit the theme won't make it to the final poll.

I'm hoping for lots of fresh ideas this month, Aficionados!

This nom thread will close on 7.21.21.

Here is a link to our rules of nomination:

Thank you Kaley, but I refer you to the rules which are linked in the opening post. Please feel free to nominate something else.

Kyle Stotts | 10 comments Not sure if you caught this but Stephen King actually recommended a James Patterson book on Apple Books a few days ago. I thought he hated him. Here's the book The Noise (red on the cover). It must be good for King to come out like that.

Here's the link where he recommended it:

My apologies, I misunderstood the rules! I will try to think of something else :)

I like Kyle's suggestion, though!

message 10: by Sarah (new)

Sarah Huntington I would very much like to nominate 'Immortelle' by Catherine McCarthy, please.
I just finished it and it fits the rules, plus, it's the best book I have read in a long time ;)

message 11: by Nancy (new)

Nancy (mcnurdy) Well, I had my nomination all written and it has disappeared like a ghost. Thanks for this fun nomination, love the idea. I'd nominate Extinction Red Line (The Extinction Cycle #0.5) by Nicholas Sansbury Smith. Not only does the book cover match exactly, but in the first chapter, the main character's vision turns orange, red, and yellow. The story is a new take on the Zombie Apocalypse with the cause being manmade. Nicholas Smith has tried for accuracy in both science and military procedures.

The Fireman was a previous group read so is not eligible. Feel free to nominate something else.

And whenever possible, please post the book covers so we can see all the fiery goodness on them.

*According to the publication date, this isn't due to be released until the 16th of August. I think it would be difficult for some wanting to read a physical copy to get it in time for a group read.*

Please feel free to nominate a different book.

Eric Butler | 13 comments HANK FLYNN by Candace Nola

Just released by Candace Nola. It's a horror western.

Hank Flynn is a tormented man.

He’s an outcast among humans, and condemned to confront evil, for as long as he lives.
Serving a higher power, Hank wanders the earth alone, until he stumbles into Protection, Kansas.
Mortally wounded and delirious after a demonic encounter, Hank Flynn is desperate for help.

Wallace Bixby, a local merchant and man of faith, graciously opens his home to the broken stranger.
Hank Flynn discovers the meaning of family and community, and the avenging drifter finds peace with Josie Bixby, the young woman who heals his body and his heart.

The town of Protection is exactly what Hank needs, and the town needs the man with special talents, who slays demons.
He deals out a unique brand of punishment to anything breaking the law, or threatening the people he loves.

But when the Devil himself comes calling, Hank Flynn must risk everything for the town he now calls home.
