It might be nice to list the books we already have, then others can compare suggest a buddy read. Plus, it will be fun to track progress and see how our NetGalley TBRs change.

Lynn - You are so good keeping it to one book per month! I try to limit myself to two per month so I can realistically finish them on time, but I don't always succeed.

Lynn | 3 comments Kristie wrote: "Lynn - You are so good keeping it to one book per month! I try to limit myself to two per month so I can realistically finish them on time, but I don't always succeed."

Sometimes I have more than one a month, but I won't go over 3.

The feedback ratio is a real incentive for me! lol

message 11: by Kristie (new)

Kristie | 2898 comments Mod
Feedback ratio doesn't really work for me any more. I'm at 95% (and still get a lot of declines!) so I'd have to request a whole bunch of books to dip below that 80%. Though, I really do enjoy watching it go up. lol I'd love to get to 100% some day, then have a requesting party. lol

Gem ~ZeroShelfControl~ (zeroshelfcontrol) | 39 comments November last year I was on 18% and I've steadily got it up to 47%. The 80 mark seems a long way off :(

Gunit Kaur Kalada I've read Ten Days, The Watcher Girl, The Stalker and The Housemaid so far in this year.

I am gonna read The Girl in the Striped Dress: A completely heartbreaking and gripping World War 2 page-turner, based on a true story soon.

I have requested a few more that I am waiting for.

message 16: by Gunit Kaur (new)

Gunit Kaur Kalada Quick question since I am new to NetGalley. Once my request is granted, how many days do I get to give my feedback?

message 17: by Kristie (new)

Kristie | 2898 comments Mod
Gem, that's great progress!

Elyse, do you keep that one post updated? Great way to keep track and at least you have plenty of options to mood read. I sometimes run into feeling like I have to read/review a book that I'm not in the mood for.

Gunit, you have as long as you need to review a book, but download them right away. If you don't download them they will disappear once they archive, but if you have them downloaded they are yours forever. A good goal is to try to review a little before the publication date, but I have reviewed books years old before. Waiting for pub day might mean you are trying to review within a few days or waiting a couple of months to post.

Also, if I get a book that has already been published I try to review it within 3 months. That is just a guideline I have given myself. I chose 3 months because NetGalley used to have separate shelves for books that were newer to you and books that you had longer than 3 months. Setting that goal kept them off my old books shelf and I've just kept it as a guideline.

I nabbed it too!

Anyone else nab The Golden Couple by Greer Hendricks on Saturday? I am PSYCHED for this! Saturday morning I was literally thinking about them and no new book news, then saw on GR that The Golden Couple pubs in March but it was not on NG. A few hours later, I got an email from NG!! I made it happen! lol.

Doing the Doerr buddy read starting 8/13 so somewhere between 8/20-8/22? I like starting buddy reads on the weekend because I can't read too much during the week, only like 25 pgs a night so I like to get a good headstart on the week!

St. Martins seems to have gone on an approval spree this morning. :)

I was approved for:

The Santa Suit by Mary Kay Andrews The Santa Suit, which had been pending forever. I honestly didn't expect to get it after so long.

The Golden Couple by Greer Hendricks The Golden Couple

They really should just auto-approve me at this point. lol

Woohoo I'm so psyched for The Golden Couple! I love their books. I nabbed it when NG initially released it for the first 500 or 1000 members. I also have The Santa Suit. I hate that they publish Christmas books in Sept. I don't want to read Christmas in Sept! lol.

I've been missing all the quick read nows. I had to request both of these and I just missed The Younger Wife, which I'm thinking about requesting as well.

I agree. I thought I wasn't going to get The Santa Suit and decided it was perfectly ok because I'd rather read it in December anyway. Then, when I was all comfortable with that, I got the approval. lol Now I'm working on changing my mindset to reading a Christmas story in September. Honestly, if I was approved right away I probably would have read it for Christmas in July. But, that's ok. I'm happy that I was approved and I'm sure a sweet story will be good next month. I'm also glad that it's a short one, which makes it easier to fit in.

I've added 3 books to my shelf in the past two days: Dark Horse, Reckless Girls, and Under the Whispering Door.

Dark Horse (Orphan X, #7) by Gregg Andrew Hurwitz Reckless Girls by Rachel Hawkins Under the Whispering Door by T.J. Klune

message 50: by Tasha (new)

Tasha I LOVE those covers from the TJ Klune books. I tried the first one on audio and it didn't work for me so I put it aside for the time being. I do eventually want to try it again but in print format next time.
