Audrey (niceyackerman) | 674 comments When I go to my library account, it hardly ever shows my digital items (checked out or on hold). I have to refresh the page over and over and hope they show up eventually. Does this happen to anyone else?

Debbie (dashforcover) | 1219 comments Usually. On very rare occasion they show straight up. As the King of Siam would say. "Is a puzzlement."

Audrey (niceyackerman) | 674 comments How long does a book have to be overdue before it's considered lost? I've been waiting for the only copy of a book that was due Aug 26, and this is the third time a Discworld book has disappeared like this.

Debbie (dashforcover) | 1219 comments Question on gifts. Can we bring in our boxes of gifts now or is it still surreptitious through the return box? I've gotten two stories from my branch, one story from Circulation and different story from Reference. Circ votes for through the return box, Reference says bring 'em on in.
I'm clearing stuff out of my house now and being even more severe with my books so have muchly to share.

If it's overdue long like this, I contact the library. They can initiate a search in case it's gone into hiding. Books do that sometimes. The computer systems in libraries are really complex and sometimes the right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing. I used to do programming on the back-end of library systems and in my old library, this happened sometimes.

I think it's 45 days. I'll look into this if you tell me which title.

Not all libraries are not currently taking donations. Here's the most recent list I have:

Accepting Donations: DRA, HOL, SAN, SJO, TYL, WHI, WJO & WVA

Not Accepting Donations: BCR, HER, HUN, KEA, MAG, MCC, RIV, & TAY

If you are bringing in a lot of books. It's best to discuss that with the branch before you do. Sometimes, we can't handle the amount, particularly if it's all at once.

Thanks!

Audrey,

It is officially lost. There are more copies on order, but I do not know when they will be available.

OK. I do Tay so I'll just use the drop box. I bring one or two brown grocery bags at a time. Thanks for the clarification!

Audrey (niceyackerman) | 674 comments I'll go on to the next one. It would've fit a challenge this month so perfectly.
