1. My HDTV is only regular LED not 4K :-( alas poor me.

2. I have a cleaned working fireplace with a new cap on the chimney

3. I used to drive a chopper, a 650 Triumph Boneville with an extended front end.

Marcie | 7096 comments sorry. had to edit. i gotz a tad confused. my thought process was still with the other game. so i change my answer from 3 to 2

message 5: by Preston, Moderator (last edited Feb 13, 2015 03:05PM) (new)

Preston | 20148 comments The answer is 3. It was my brother's and I bought it from him. I used to ride it to work so there I was on this chopper wearing a jacket and tie which attracted odd reactions. I miss my Boneville.

Roger thought it was 2 because I did get a cap put on my chimney. But it is not a cleaned fireplace because the last time a chimney sweep cleaned it was a very long time ago. Even he previous owners never had the chimney cleaned and fireplace checked so it would be dangerous to use the fireplace without a cleaning.

It is Marcies' turn on Two Truths and a Lie so I give my turn on Two Lies and One Truth to Roger.

Marcie | 7096 comments i would of liked to have seen that: pres, in leather, with tie on a bike. you sexy man you :)

as cold as it gets over there maybe you should have it cleaned out, bro. would make movie watching more comfy :)

Preston | 20148 comments #1

message 10: by Roger (new)

Roger Kean | 17278 comments 2) might be correct if I'd said "dysnumeric" for I'm always transposing numbers in phone numbers, but I'm not dyslexic, and I've only ever ridden pillion on the back of a school friend's Honda 125 and another's Triumph, and I was terrified.

So Preston is right, I used to be a competitive swimmer (freestyle) at school and won many races.

Preston | 20148 comments #2 is the truth but it's too bad #3 wasn't the truth.

message 15: by Roger (new)

Roger Kean | 17278 comments 1) especially the color!

message 16: by Marcie (new)

Marcie | 7096 comments sorry roger, i've never owned a bug. and yes, bro, 3 is an unfortunate thing...but on the bright side you are correct w/the choice of #2.

go for it, my brother from another mother ;)

message 17: by Preston, Moderator (new)

Preston | 20148 comments 1. Roger refuses to marry his partner, Oliver Frey, even though they've been together since around 1970. I've tried to convince him but he says he doesn't want a 'wedding'. I told him marriage doesn't mean wedding but he won't listen.

2. Oliver Frey was knighted an O.B.E. but it's only honorary because he remains a Swiss citizen even though he's been in England for over 40 years.

3. Oliver Frey's art was exhibited at the British Library (the British equivalent of the US Library of Congress.)

message 18: by Roger (new)

Roger Kean | 17278 comments I can neither confirm nor deny any of these points in case I incriminate myself. :-)

message 19: by Marcie (new)

Marcie | 7096 comments rog, this one was so easy peasy (for you). why didn't you play, mr.? he was handing it to you on a silver platter. you and i need to talk ;-)

numero tres (#3)

message 20: by Roger (new)

Roger Kean | 17278 comments I'm just too shy for my own good ;-) Well, they're Preston's questions. I suppose he knows the truths and the lies (it's all lies, I tell you, lies…)

message 21: by Marcie (new)

Marcie | 7096 comments shy...*snorts* i mean, yes, i can see that :)

message 22: by Preston, Moderator (new)

Preston | 20148 comments Marcie Won!

Answers:

1. Roger and Oli are in a civil union and that satisfies their needs says Roger the gay romance writer. After writing that Richard and Edward in A Life Apart needed an adoption and a dual baptism because being gay was illegal so he substituted these for a marriage ceremony. How romantic. But for himself? Romance. Bah! Who needs it!

2. I'd give both Oli and Roger OBE honors but the Queen didn't. Obviously she is not a retro-gaming fan nor does she follow the stories of Mike and Gil.

3. I'm so proud of Oli I light up when I think not only was his work featured, he was invited to come be interviewed on stage before an audience at the British Library. THE TRUTH~!

message 26: by Marcie (new)

Marcie | 7096 comments 3 & 2) Even though my sisters husband can hook me up w/a tattoo I'm too chicken to do it...that goes for the piercings as well. So sorry bro, 3 & 2 are lies.

1) I do have 2 friends in which BDSM is very much part of their life.

*looking over at Roger* Winner winner winner chicken dinner!

message 27: by Roger (new)

Roger Kean | 17278 comments :::Blush blush::

Right, a couple of lies… it's difficult because I am normally such a truthful person.

1) My home has been flooded by the river

2) My home sits in a valley

3) My home has two floors.

message 28: by Marcie (new)

Marcie | 7096 comments I'll go w/2 just cause I live in the valley.

message 29: by Preston, Moderator (new)

Preston | 20148 comments #2 is the truth.

#1 FALSE Only when Noah was navigating the great flood could water get that high and there is no mention of a great Ludlow flood in your favorite 'reliable' source, Wikipedia.

#2 TRUE There is an A.E. Houseman verse which mentions both the Teme and Valleys::

In valleys of springs of rivers
By Ony and Teme and Clun
The country for easy livers
The quietest under the sun

This is the not the only place where the words valley and Teme are in the same string of word but it will do because a search using Google finds reference to Teme Valley . You should, by the way, get a copy of the Folio Society's A Shropshire Lad which is a magnificent edition. I'm surprised you don't have it. I do of course.

We see Ludlow Valley is in the results of a Google Maps search for Ludlow Valley and that's your from favorite resource, Google Maps, places your (and Oli's) home in Ludlow Valley

https://www.google.com/maps/search/lu...

Right there approximately across from St. John's is your house in Ludlow Valley. So you do live in a valley says Google Maps..

#3 FALSE Three is only true by your arcane British terminology for designating floors. Outside of the UK for example In America it would be said to have three floors because it has three habitable storeys.

In your mind you might think you only have 2 floors although any sane person would count your home's floors as there is a floor on your first storey and a floor your second storey and a floor on your third storey which of course totals 3 floors.

The online Oxford Dictionary defines floor as "All the rooms or areas on the same level of a building; a story:"

You have three levels.Thrree storeys. You have three floors.

If I were to vacuum your house (don't hold your breath) I would have three floors to vacuum. So unless the floor with your kitchen has disappeared or the floor where you put together jigsaw puzzles has vanished or the floor with your computers has flown the coop, you have three (3), count them, three floors.

So MARCIE WINS!

message 30: by Marcie (new)

Marcie | 7096 comments @ pres: *smilimg + speechless*....heart ya :) but are you sure, bro? cus then that means i'm on a winning streak and i should go insearch of that cowboy on message #13

message 31: by Roger (new)

Roger Kean | 17278 comments I have absolutely no problem with Marcie winning, but I feel obliged to point out that:

1) For two years I lived at No. 2 Hockey's Mill, which was once a watermill in the River Teme and the basement did flood, as the river has done on several occasions in recent years. So that's true.

2) My house isn't called Ridgemount for no good reason, it's on the highest point in Ludlow Town, so that's a lie.

3) is a lie because, as Preston points out there are three floors (including the GROUND FLOOR, First Floor, and Second Floor, also a basement) And don't knock our "arcane" floor numbering system, it gave me grounds for lots of fun when American Gil Graham in Boys of Disco City never finds the right floor when he arrives in London first time.

Otherwise, stunning bit of forensic research… :-))

message 32: by Preston, Moderator (new)

Preston | 20148 comments #1 is dubious a least. You state, "My home has been flooded by the river". Are you going to claim that every home where you have ever lived is yours? How "Al Gore" of you.

If you are going to claim that property that no longer belongs to you is "your home" phrase it truthfully as my former home or my boyhood home or my home in Lagos.

Oli will be glad to know you weren't generous enough in your partnership to at least say "our home." You inconsiderate, self-centered cad~!

Face it you are a scoundrel for trying to swindle your way on this by using misleading phrasing.

I'm sure the owner(s) of No. 2 Hockey's Mill would be surprised to find out it is your home, not theirs.

#2, "My home sits in a valley" is still a TRUE because you cannot wiggle your way out of Ridgemount being in Ludlow Valley unless you can provide proof that Google maps is wrong. It might be the highest point in all of Ludlow Valley for all I know but it is still in Ludlow Valley.

Thus Marcie is correct that #2 is a lie and she wins.

your turn, pres!

message 41: by Preston, Moderator (new)

Preston | 20148 comments Thank you Roger for always being such a good sport. Of course I didn't mean you were a "inconsiderate, self-centered cad" because as Oli knows you and I are in love. So what I really meant was you are a highly considerate, generous cad.

1. My father is a dentist.

2. My father is on his 3rd wife.

3. My mother used to drive a Karmann Ghia.
