Hannah | 3296 comments Set in Germany shortly after the end of WW2, this book centres around Edith, a British woman wanting something more from her life than just teaching. A fluent German speaker, Edith is sent to Germany supposedly to help rebuild schools for children, but really to spy and pass back information that may be helpful to the British in their hunt to track down Nazi war criminals. There are lots of twists and turns in this book, and it becomes clear to Edith quite quickly that she cannot be sure who to trust. I hope the author writes more books for adults in the future as I really enjoyed this book with its strong female lead, interesting supporting characters and a different take on the espionage novel.
