Jen K | 1547 comments Started this yesterday but only managed 5 chapters. Great to be back in this world and seeing where everyone is a few months in.

Jen K | 1547 comments All caught up now through chapter 14.

I'm confused by the person that Tyger is with. I thought she was ended? So curious as to what he is training to do and frustrated that he doesn't bother to actually find out.

Greyson seems like a really good addition.

Emily | 84 comments I’m a little behind (managed 7 chapters day 1, only 2 yesterday). I am also now up to 14.
When I found out Rand was alive I actually gasped out loud - looking back, I seem to remember the high blade saying they never actually found her body, that they thought it was under some rubble but never looked? Hopefully that’ll be explained.
I have a feeling Tiger being trained has something to do with Rowan having Goddards ring.
Grayson is definitely a character I didn’t think we’d be spending so much time with. He seems to be essentially acting as a spy for the thunderhead. Learning more about how manipulative the thunderhead is, while also being benevolent, is very interesting.
I will try and catch up as much as I can with the schedule - I’m really enjoying it, just a real busy week

Jen K | 1547 comments I will be behind or exactly at pace as it is a busy week for me too.

Impressive memory on Rand. I really couldn't remember how she could have survived. It does sound like an upcoming battle.

My fear is the Greyson will turn into a love triangle but I love understanding how Thunderhead maneuvers around the laws of interacting with Scythes.

Jen K | 1547 comments I have completely failed at reading beyond Chapter 14 today so I will be catching up with you. :)

Jen K | 1547 comments Read through Chapter 21 yesterday. Whoever is the evil mastermind on the Scythe side is quite clever.

Emily | 84 comments I’m currently in the middle of chapter 28 - the mystery aspect in the book is really intriguing to me

Jen K | 1547 comments Sorry I got so behind! Work has been crazy and I had a friend end up visiting for the weekend. I'm on Chapter 32 and hoping to still read more tonight!

Um, the ending of Chapter 28??!! Crazy!!! I do not know how Rowan is going to get out of his situation!

Emily | 84 comments Don’t worry, I’ve just finished chapter 37 - I might get more done tomorrow but most likely I’ll be finishing on Tuesday (this weekend and Monday are really busy for me lol).
The twist totally shocked me - I thought tiger had had plastic surgery to look like Goddard, when I realised that it was Goddards head on tigers body I lost my shit.

Jen K | 1547 comments Cool! Just finished Chapter 37 and hope to finish by Tuesday too.

So crazy!! I'm so frustrated on behalf of Thunderhead that so much is happening outside of their jurisdiction. I'm intrigued that Greyson went to the Tonists and wonder how that will play in.

Jen K | 1547 comments I finished. Amazing! Excited to discuss!

Emily | 84 comments I finished it last night! I had to take the evening just to process how wild that ending was.
I cannot believe Goddards plan was to destroy all the Grand Slayers and the island of Eudora - and that it actually worked. I nearly cried when Curie died, and I can't believe Rowan and Citra are 'dead' too.
The Thunderhead has been slowly losing its shit, and I cannot quite believe it made everyone unsavory to essentially cut off the whole world from its guidance. Thank god Greyson didn't become part of a love triangle, but I reckon he'll become a real important player in the next book as he's the only one who can talk to the Thunderhead. I reckon the Tonists will feature even more heavily in the plot in the last book too.
I cannot quite believe Shusterman decided to basically have the whole of civilisation collapse (Scythedom pretty much taken over by Goddard's ideals, Thunderhead cutting everyone off) at the end of this book. I'm so excited to see how he wraps it up (I wonder what Scythe Faraday finds on the Land of Nod) - when would you want to read the final book?

Jen K | 1547 comments Such a mind blowing ending!! It was somewhat painful watching Thunderhead unravel in this random identity crisis but had no idea that it would end with labeling everyone unsavory. I have no idea how this will get fixed.

Goddard is so evil and I thought that the ruling was too good to be realistic but crazy that it never really left the room. I hope that Rand keeps subverting him. She knows.

So sad about Curie. Why didn't she stay with them? Faraday will be so heart broken. What will they find in Nod? Will it make Thunderhead feel better or worse? Will it be enough to take out Goddard?

So ready for the next book but also so over committed for August. :( It is a crazy month. I could do early September? Totally understand if you want to read earlier though.

Emily | 84 comments I honestly have no idea how it's going to be resolved. I love the Thunderhead's clever manipulation - it wanted to cut off humanity, it can't talk to unsavouries, so make everyone unsavoury.

Goddard is truly becoming just classically very evil. I was starting to worry he was becoming a bit of a Trump character (when he said about making the Scythedom great again) but he is slightly more nuanced than that. I loved the fleshing out of Rand's character - I'd love to see if her compassion comes more into play in the finale.

For Curie, I believe she saw it as her punishment for her gleaning of the final US politicians all those years ago. I'm glad she chose to glean herself and others around her - a real show of her compassion. I can't imagine going out like the Grand Slayer's did was very enjoyable.

I'm very intrigued about how Nod will play into the last book. I'm also stretched thin in August so happy to read in early September. I'll need to check in a week or so when I can get the audiobook, so I can confirm more exact dates then!

Emily | 84 comments Hey - I believe I can get the audiobook for the Toll on the 1st Sept - could potentially do the 1st to the 10th if that works (it's a longer book so we could do with more time lol)

Jen K | 1547 comments Hey Emily, that should work for me too! Excited!
