Steve Akerson (stevetheaccidentalauthor) | 17 comments Hi - I'm Steve Akerson. I am very happy to announce the publishing of my book. Called Joy That Renews, the book is a devotional through the book of Psalms. The book came about as I prepared for my weekly Bible study sessions with three great friends. I found that looking at an entire chapter in Psalms wasn't speaking to me. So I decided to select one verse from each chapter and concentrate on this verse. I asked the Lord to point out a verse that was for me - maybe it would contain an idea that fired my imagination, or it would say something unique or different.

That decision changed everything for me. I have never had God speak to me in such depth and richness - he opened my eyes and heart to see and understand things that I never would have found if I had not spent in-depth time on that one verse. I could not wait to get up the next day and select a verse from the next chapter. I had a great sense of expectation and fresh excitement to see what was in store for me that day.

After the study ended I wondered if my notes and scribbles could be turned into a book - if other people could be blessed in the same way I was. Many steps later, the result is Joy That Renews. I know this book won't be for all who read my posts on LinkedIn. But if you are interested, here are some ways this book will help you:

As you read each verse you will have the opportunity to hear Jesus talk to you about it. Your thoughts will be engaged as you understand the incredible gifts he wants to give you.
Maybe the most important of these gifts is God's total acceptance of you - just as you are. You will see that God doesn't limit his love or joy for you, in fact his desire is to pour them all over you every day - no matter what happened to you that day.
You will also learn how to live the life you have been dreaming of, but that always seemed to be out of your reach. You can be the best you and live with integrity and a mind free of guilt and shame.

You will see how these verses, written thousands of years ago by David, Moses and others, are precisely relevant to you today. The feelings they had when they were writing are the same as you have today. In many ways, their situations are similar to yours. And the solutions they found are effective, easy to understand and use, and powerful.
In the coming days and weeks I'm going to be posting individual chapters from Joy That Renews. I hope these will give you a good picture of what the book is like. And I hope that you will see that by reading - and pondering what you read - that you can be encouraged, lifted up and better prepared to face the challenges we all face every day.
