Patricie (patriciewithe) I want some recommendations for Halloween reads that are not plain horrrors since they terrifie me lol. love stories with witches - I've been a sucker for them since I was a child - Charmed was my jam, like the best! I think that the Chilling adventures of Sabrina would be good.. But I've already seen the whole series on Netflix so..

Raynah | 146 comments I want to try and read a few Stephen King books this fall. I own quite a few of his books and want to start knocking them off my tbr

Kacie I really really REALLY want to read some legitimately scary books but I haven't found any I can read cuz of content issues. ugh.

message 9: by Worm (new)

Worm I'm really wanting to read American Psycho and No Longer Human for October, but I have so many other books to get through I'm not sure I'll have time

Nora | 5 comments Hello does anyone have recommendations for like feel good books that just have the vibe of fall and Halloween? Not scary just vibey, you know. I really want to read something like that but I don’t know any books that is like that 😂

Mae Crowe (maecrowe) | 3 comments For anyone who wants a short but unsettling read, I always reread Mary Downing Hahn's books around October (usually choosing rainy days), especially All the Lovely Bad Ones and Deep and Dark and Dangerous. They're middle grade, and maybe it's the nostalgia talking, but the spook factor holds up for older readers. Her ghost stories tend to have the vibes of the sort of story locals in a small town pass between each other, or that are shared around a camp fire. Probably not for hardcore horror fans, but if you just like a good ghost story, the Vibes are perfect.

I'd love to get a book like that recommended, too. A really cozy book you can read on a rainy fall day... Maybe just a love story that takes place in fall or winter and also delivers that cozy atmosphere? I only know What Light, but thats a Christmas book

Patricie (patriciewithe) I have a fall/spooky book rec! Small
spaces by Katherine Arden! It's a short story, the main protagonist is in middle grade age so that's maybe a lil off, but besides it's great!
I hate horrors, they scare me soo much, but this book is scary in a.good way - does that makes sense ? I love the fall/Halloween atmosphere and Arden is an excellent writer ✨

Kacie I read Small Spaces!! I liked it :D definitely recommend it too.

beenish ✧ ༄ ⋆.˚ (dykereader) i’m currently reading ‘Hamnet’ by Maggie O’Farrell, it’s not a horror book, but i feel like it fits the autumn vibe really perfectly- it’s about shakespeare’s son called hamnet :)

diana☆ (caloresthrone) | 2 comments City of Ghosts by Victoria Schwab!! not horror or thriller and it’s a middle grade book about a girl and her ghost best friend. and a bit of a stretch but the Near Witch and This Savage Song could work for an oct vibe. Near Witch because witches and TSS because it has monsters. they’re all great books by Schwab. might be a little biased because she’s my favorite author but off the top of my head those are the ones i think work for an october mood.
