In a galaxy powered by the current, everyone has a gift.

Cyra is the sister of the brutal tyrant who rules the Shotet people. Cyra’s currentgift gives her pain and power—something her brother exploits, using her to torture his enemies. But Cyra is much more than just a blade in her brother’s hand: she is resilient, quick on her feet, and smarter than he knows.

Akos is the son of a farmer and an oracle from the frozen nation-planet of Thuvhe. Protected by his unusual currentgift, Akos is generous in spirit, and his loyalty to his family is limitless. Once Akos and his brother are captured by enemy Shotet soldiers, Akos is desperate to get his brother out alive—no matter what the cost.

Then Akos is thrust into Cyra's world, and the enmity between their countries and families seems insurmountable. Will they help each other to survive, or will they destroy one another?

Carve the Mark is Veronica Roth's stunning portrayal of the power of friendship—and love—in a galaxy filled with unexpected gifts.

Aaron (aa3142) | 1520 comments I’ve read the divergent series and I’ve owned a copy of this book for a couple years now but never gotten around to reading it. I’ve heard a lot of negative reviews about it so I’m not expecting it to be great but I’ll try to go in open minded.

Maliha Tabassum Arna Nope. I haven't read any of Veronica Roth!

Aaron I've owned this book for a long time too. I'm looking forward to it. idk I hope it's good. I liked the divergent series except for the ending of course. *mad*

Maliha Tabassum Arna How much to read a day? I'm starting today..🥰

Kathryn Ford (cathy87) | 90 comments I finally got hold of this book and will be starting today.
I loved the Divergent series by Veronica Roth. I'm not a huge sci-fi fan, but because it is Veronica Roth I am willing to try it out. I guess the closest thing I've read to this is Red Rising by Pierce Brown.

Kathryn Ford (cathy87) | 90 comments I'm really sad that noone finished this book or wanted to chat about it, because it was a great book. Even though I don't like sci-fi, I found this book captivating, and most of the sci-fi elements worked more like magic than proper technology. The characters were so well thought out, and the story was full of highs and lows. Veronica Roth showed us in Divergent that she isn't scared to go to dark places, and in this book she has done it again.

Maliha Tabassum Arna I'm also feeling sad not for finishing it instantly after starting. Maybe I can read it this month!😇

Kathryn Ford (cathy87) | 90 comments Maliha, it is worth finishing it, it was really a good book. :)

I have read it a while back, I enjoyed it too! I did feel like I already knew exactly how it was going to end, but it was nice nonetheless. Such a cool idea for a story in my opinion and I loved the character development! :)

I'm glad you enjoyed the book as well. You're right the character development was amazing. It was especially great to see how Cyra developed once she wasn't continuously feeling pain, and could decide for herself what sort of person she wanted to be.

I agree! It made me really interested in where her story would go from here

Maliha Tabassum Arna @Danique
You finished it?
If isn't, then let's finish. I started but not finished with it yet.
