Andrea L | 31 comments Do you like to underline, use post its, fold pages, write or draw on your books?

I have found this is an interesting subject. At first I completely disliked it, I felt like I was destroying my books. But then, when I did it in a collective reading, it was a funny experience.

~☆~Autumn | 1 comments All of the above. I make notes for neverending quiz questions. Later when I read the book again I sometimes like my old notes.

message 3: by Bruno (new)

Bruno | 80 comments I usually use stickers or write a famous quote in the notebook. I don't Mark the places because I would prefer for the others to find their own interest in the content, rather than just follow the established traces

message 10: by Abigail (new)

Abigail (abigaillb) if it's assigned reading in school, then yes, all the time, it's just easier for essays. but i've never annotated a personal book, just because it takes me out of the novel sometimes & ruins the pace.

message 15: by snackariyah (new)

snackariyah (brothersnackariyah) | 66 comments I don't write on books, I just think if someone else were to use the book they would be annoyed with all the writing/underlining/highlighting

message 16: by Kim (new)

Kim (kimborams) | 7 comments I must admit that I don't, except in certain circumstances. The first is a book I am studying for a course or exam (but it would have to be my own book) and I do correct obvious errors in books when I come across them, even in library books (naughty me!).
This thread brings to mind an incident when I was a member of Read It Swap It and I listed a book I had acquired through the site and had read, describing it as having lots of highlighting, underlines and comments in - even so, the person who asked for a swap (and sent me a damaged book not as described) had the nerve to rate me very low for all the writing in the book!
So it does really annoy some people!!
