Theresa | 15520 comments Murderbot heads to Milu, outside the Corporation Rim, to collect data showing that GreyCris, the corporation with a habit of nefarious deeds and killing all to hide what it has been doing, did illegal things on the station it was building there before abandonning it. Naturally it ends up on a ship with humans, its pet bot, and a couple of security guards sent to Milu by the corporation who bought the abandonned station to do an assessment. Of course, everything goes wrong and Murderbot reluctantly, so it says, has humans and a bot to protect and save.

Wells writes a tight yet action packed short novella, that still manages to have plenty of sci fi tech info, but not so much as to be info dumps that would have me rolling my eyes and jumping ahead. Murderbot is also still marvelously snarky and self-deprecating, though signs of acceptance of emotional connections is starting to sneak through. Murderbot reminds me in this of all those romance novel heros who claim to be unable to love. We know how that always ends.

I just love this series! Slowly but steadily, the author is showing us the bigger picture of what Murderbot is up against and seemingly single-handedly setting out to take down.
