I have a lot of books started. It looks like I’ll likely finish Karen Jobes’s commentary on 1 Peter this month as I continue memorizing 1 Peter. I’ve picked up Elyse Fitzpatrick’s study “Uncommon Vessels” afresh as I seek to discipline myself to eat to the glory of God. I’m also working through Keri Folmar’s study on James as I prep for our bi-weekly small group meeting.
Thaddeus Williams’s book, Confronting Injustice without Compromising Truth, has been excellent, so I’m continuing that.
I ordered Carolyn Newheiser’s recent book, When Words Matter, and hope to read it soon as I seek to better balance grace and truth in my conversations. So much to read, so little time!

Christabelle, "The Complicated Heart" looks like an amazingly challenging story! Such a good invitation to love in the midst of hurt. I'd started reading Companions in Suffering, I was enjoying it, but somehow got lost in the shuffle of others reading ;)
Elizabeth, I read When Words Matter, and I really enjoyed it. I found it convicting and practical, I'll look forward to hearing your thoughts :) I've not done any of Keri's studies yet, but they've looked good.
This month I'm reading Do You Believe?: 12 Historic Doctrines to Change Your Everyday Life and Is Christmas Unbelievable?: Four Questions Everyone Should Ask about the World's Most Famous Story and You're Only Human: How Your Limits Reflect God’s Design and Why That’s Good News.
Have a great day!

So, I picked up The Complicated Heart: Loving Even When It Hurts and appreciated it. I love how God takes two imperfect people and works their stories together. It also made me consider mother/daughter relationships themselves. A mom holds a huge part of our heart for good or for ill. As both a mom and a daughter I found myself pondering the implications of that.
I also finished The Genome Odyssey: Medical Mysteries and the Incredible Quest to Solve Them because we have some genetic variations in our family…and I’m just a nerd like that!
For October I started Companions in Suffering: Comfort for Times of Loss and Loneliness. There are so many hard things going on lately. It seems appropriate. I also want to read Frankenstein: The 1818 Text for the category of an author under the age of 30.
How about you? Got any good books set up for the rainy season?
