I got my copy too. Yes, looking forward to it.

McKayla Brooke (soulfullofsunshine) | 117 comments I just finished this book and I love it. As an ASL student I really appreciated how correct the asl was, such as how some words were finger spelled and the grammar was right. I also loved the insight into deaf culture, and the struggles and discrimination dead and hard of hearing people face. It was 5 stars for me :)

Finished and LOVED this story. I am so glad this was chosen as our book this month. I want to learn ASL so much and have for awhile now. I wish I had more time to do so. Beau was my favorite character. His persistence, perseverance, and his heart took my away. Looking forward to more by this author.

McKayla Brooke (soulfullofsunshine) | 117 comments Yeah asl can be a bit time consuming, I just take a course as part of my homeschool.

She does have another book called 27 days and that one was amazing I totally recommend it

McKayla Brooke (soulfullofsunshine) | 117 comments I had to go look it up to be sure what it was called but on YouTube there is a show called ASL nook and it features a deaf family (deaf mom deaf dad two daughters one deaf one hearing) and they teach asl using daily situations. So as they’re doing laundry they name the clothes they’re folding or as they’re going out for a day trip they’ll name things around them. Shaylee Mansfield, their daughter, is a deaf actress and she often posts on her Instagram talking about deaf culture in sign language with captions, I’ve picked some up from there.

Handspeak.com is a ASL video dictionary and it has a list of the first 100 words to learn and things like that.

I love ASL and even though I don’t know anyone who is deaf or hard of hearing that speaks ASL, I still love knowing it and my friend and I often talk in it.

Sorry that was lengthy but those are some not as time confusing ways to learn if you are interested
