Maria (minni13) Final thoughts of the book here :)

Meghan | 19 comments Finished the book and gave it a 4 stars. I definitely preferred this book to the first one. Ewgene is my new favourite character and I really like the different perspectives we got in this book. The ending has left me a little bit confused though which seems to be a theme with these books.

Really needed to hold myself back for not finishing this book in less than a week. When i decided to read one book per month this year, I was doubtful whether i could actually do that, but at this rate i will be finished before summer! Definitely hooked :D

The prologue just still confuses me. That Bors diden't come again after that, right? Was there any other reason for that prologue than show that the dark one has servants from all kind of groups? (No spoilers from coming books if there is any coming, please)

And i don't usually like to read books where the perspective changes from the main character, but with this book I even found myself looking forward to that at times. And I see so much, meaby not direct hate, but strong dislike for that character. Am I the only one who actually finds her to be one of the most enjoyable characters to read about?

Which character? Rand??? Cuz with this series, I'd argue he's just one of several main characters, and not necessarily the most interesting one at that. Or Mat - he does get better and less annoying as he series goes on.

Oh sorry, my tought cut off there. I meant Nynaeve there.

Meghan | 19 comments I also like Nynaeve. I think my least favourite character from the main group is Mat. We haven’t had much with his character and I honestly don’t care for the dagger storyline

message 7: by Kendra (new)

Kendra I love Nynaeve. Perrin is still my favorite, but she's up there. And yeah, Mat isn't he greatest character to start out with. I had forgotten how annoying he was to begin with.

Ruu | 6 comments I can't say i dislike very strongly for any character, expect with the first book whitecloacks. I was not prepared to be so happy to see them again after seanchans. I think they are pretty well writen villains (i suppose we can openly call them that), but i would be lying to say i wasn't mostly annoyed or angry with most of their encounters.

And yes Perrin is nice. Didn't like him that much at the beging, but with the second book hi has become more intresting.

And Hurin, i don't know why i like him, but most of the book i was afraid that every time they leave him somewhere and return he would be found dead. I don't know, Hurin just seems that kind of character in most books.

Kendra And I did it. 🥳 I actually managed to finish on schedule for this one. there were some parts that were almost new to me and yet some scene were still clear as a bell in my mind from when I read it 20 years ago. I still wanted more Perrin & Nynaeve and less Rand. Not that I hate Rand, I just like the others more. And yes, Hurin does have a 'red shirt character' feel to him.

Maria (minni13) Am I the only one not liking Nynaeve?? 😂
She annoys me so much!
Don't care for Rand either.... Perrin is my favorite, and I like Mat, even tho he's a big idiot 🤦‍♀️😂

Jenn Barrett (progressingimperfectly) | 24 comments Nynaeve is hard to stomach the first few books. Just finished five and only starting to like her but still finding her tirades insufferable. So, no, you are not alone. Although she is better than the bloody girl… well, that’s in book four, so I won’t name names. 😉

I agree that I liked it so much better than the first book!

I really like how Robert Jordan has written so many characters that then pop up again. Min was probably my favorite of this--and she might be my favorite character at the moment. I liked Nynaeve a bit better in this book as she seems to have some direction in her life now.

Kendra I always liked Nynaeve. She makes mistakes, is grumpy and quick to anger, but she cares about others and I always related to her.
