Part of her job at the library was she pushed one of those carts putting away books (where I believe she would hear weird sounds/other anomalies), and checking out people (I'm getting a vague memory that she wasn't very well liked by her fellow students). I believe near the end of the book as part of the climax she grabs the sword and uses it to kill some monster after it flies through the library window smashing it. I'm not quite sure of the year I know its not older but not last year recent either, If I had to guess I'd say 2010-2014 around there.

Yes I believe it was mainly fantasy and I don't remember if it said a town name but I do remember it was a remote place though you could get to other business in the town if you took a bus. Thanks for replying with a suggestion I don't believe that is it based on the description, mainly because if I'm remembering right she has no idea about the magic or fantasy in this book when she first arrives at school, she believes she is a normal girl and its just another boarding school. Sounds little similar to Mythos Academy Series by Jennifer Estep. You should check it out anyways, it's a good series :)
