15.1.Everything You Think is Right....or Wrong?

Book 1 – Read a book that a GR friend has rated 4 or 5 stars, AND

Book 2 – Read a book that a GR friend has rated 1 or 2 stars.

REQUIRED: For both books, include a link to the friend’s review.

Trish (trishhartuk) | 3675 comments I've got a couple of questions (sorry Sandy!).

1. Does it have to be the same goodreads friend for both books?

2. Can you count a book where a friend has giving it a rating, but hasn't written a review about it (not everyone always review what they've read).

No - just any GR friend. The only thing that matters is a rating, not a written review.

Narumon Hi Sandy,

Quick question: I'm fairly new to Goodreads and don't yet have friends on Goodreads. I do follow a couple of Booktubers and their reviews. Could I use their ratings? Or perhaps a moderator's ratings?

Thank you!

Why not start out by friending the mods? that's a good idea anyway, since it makes it easier for us to send you private messages. We've rated lots of books among the 3 of us, so that would give you some choices.

Another option is to add some friends here on GR - Looking for GR friends has postings from a number of people who would like to add more friends. And, you could take a look at their profiles first and look for people who seem to have similar or very different tastes than you do!

Also, there are frequently tasks in the SRC challenges that involve something to do with GR friends and their lists/ratings/whatever - so it's not a bad idea to set yourself up to be able to participate in those!

Questions are good - don't be sorry about asking them! It's best to clarify now.

Vicki Willis | 166 comments Ok, how do you make a link to a friends review? Somehow I think I should know this, but it is puzzling me...:/

Go to your friend's review. You can go to the friend's page, look at his or her "read" list and find the book you want to use. Click on "view" at the far right of the line for that book. You should have the review up, with a written text if there is one, or just with the *s showing. Copy the link from the upper left of your browser, then paste it into your post.

Ashley What if they have rated the book but there is no review tab?

I only checked that they had rated them before I started :(

Danielle (danielle_desrochers) | 27 comments Hello! I just finished 50 shades of grey and realized I have a bunch of friends who loved it and a bunch who hated it...I also have the second book in the series on the top of my TBR pile. Could I use these two to satisfy this task? I can link one friend who hated the first and one friend who loved the second...different friends? Thanks in advance!!!

Sure, all you need is one who liked one and one who disliked one - it could even be the same friend!

Yes, Sandy, but don't you need to read two books for this challenge?

yes, but both could have been reviewed by the same person - two books, but not necessarily two different friends.

Bea Sandy wrote: "yes, but both could have been reviewed by the same person - two books, but not necessarily two different friends."

Thanks for clarifying. However, I thought Danielle was talking about one book that met the two task criteria.

Danielle (danielle_desrochers) | 27 comments Thanks for the help! Bea, I was talking about two books in a series: Fifty Shades of Grey and Fifty Shades Darker, which are both pretty good stories of anyone's interested!

Oh! I definitely misunderstood. Sorry.

Re FSOG: I have mixed feelings about whether I want to read it or not. Nice to know your reaction.

Stars is fine - no written review necessary.

message 25: by Jessie (new)

Jessie (jessiemoses) | 8 comments Hi Sandy! Does it matter if the friend has a private or a public profile?

You can link to the review even if the friend has a private profile.
