Yay- I only needed at least one person to join in to go forth with my plan to share the challenges here. Remember that if the challenges are impossible to fulfill you'll just send me a private message and ill re-roll the dice for you! It'll be a fun time.

It's actually pretty simple- it sounds a bit confusing in the explaining but in reality it'll be very easy to pick up. I'm thrilled you're willing to try it out! I'll be sharing the prompts for January very soon ✌🏼

@reed I’m at work on the mobile app so I cannot directly reply so I hope you see this message.
If you go to the 2022 TBR Game folder on the group homepage you’ll see a thread titled January prompts and discussions and also one titled February Prompts & Discussion.
I would go ahead and read everything I posted in both so you can see how the game works.
Once you’ve done that joining is easy- consider yourself joined and build a TBR based on the prompts listed in the February Thread. Each prompt is followed by an explanation but if you don’t understand something feel free to ask me.
Technically this is a year-long game that started last month so you would need to take a punishment for not completing A TBR in January (you’ll see why once you read the rules) but the good part is you get to pick your own punishment and reward for when you pass/fail the game each month. I am not requiring you take the punishment for starting late but some others chose to do it that way to stay within the rules of the game but that’s up to you.
I’m so happy to have you and I can’t wait to see what you choose to read for the prompts!!

I'll start by sharing that I will be continuing both the Buzz Word and Read the Rainbow Challenge in 2022. Even though there wasn't a lot of discussion a lot of reading was happening behind the scenes:
For the Buzz Word Challenge those of us that participated pledged 216 books and have read 53 so far and for the Read the Rainbow Challenge we pledged 188 books and have read 126. Collectively we have read 179 books this year just with these two challenges alone! It's amazing to know that this group and those challenges inspired us to pick up 179 different books- wow! I would love to see more discussion in 2022 in the discussion posts that I put up every month- we always want to come together as a group as much as possible! But as always discussion is not required for you to participate- we would just love if you did stop in and chat whenever possible.
**I'll release the new buzz word prompts for 2022 in a post before the end of the year so that you can plan your TBR's- I can't upload them officially until the current one for the year finishes. The read the rainbow prompts will stay the same in 2022.
I'm pretty excited about the new reading "challenge" I'll be hosting in 2022. It's a little different and unconventional compared to the type of the thing we usually host but I still think it will be fun. I decided that I wanted to create or play a TBR game in 2022 because I've seen various games going around and it looks like great fun. The one that appealed to me the most was the game hosted by G over at the YouTube channel Book Roast. It's TBRvatar and its themed around Avatar. I know literally nothing about Avatar so don't let that deter you. The game I'll be playing will only use part of her game (the cards minus the board). The Rules are as follows:
1. I'll pick a card from the 78 card deck. Each card has a different prompt on it.
2. I'll then roll a D20 die; each of the 20 sides are paired with a secondary prompt.
3. I will then use both prompts to choose the book I'll be reading for that turn.
4. I'll repeat steps 1-3 six times each turn resulting in a book that fits both challenges.
5. If I roll the same number twice it will result in an extra roll being added and another book chosen.
6. If I do not own a book that fits both prompts I will roll the die again and try again. The purpose of the game isn't to send me (or you) out spending money on books- it's to help us pick those books that are gathering dust on our shelves. BUT if you do have a book that fits you MUST choose that book. There will only be re-rolls if we absolutely have nothing to fit the prompt. The idea here is that if you really don't want to read the book that does fit and you've had it a long time and still haven't read ,maybe we need to reevaluate if we're still interested in said book. Of course this isn't really required- it's just the way I'm going to be looking at it so that this game is both fun and beneficial!
7. In the spirit of games and how they work I will be choosing a prize that I'll win if I read all 6 (or more) books from that months game. In the same vain I'll also set up a punishment in the event I don't finish. I will leave the prize/punishment choice up to each individual. I will probably make my prize a skip card for the next time to use if a challenge comes up that I don't want to do and I'll probably make my punishment an extra roll the following month or something like that. I'll definitely let you know when I have made my decision.
Example of a roll: I pick a card that says Read a book with Clouds on the cover and then roll the die and land on the prompt Read an ARC I will then look for an ARC that I have that also has clouds on the cover. If I can't I will roll again.
How this game will work for you:
At the beginning of each month I will reveal the prompts that were pulled/rolled in a post. Then those of you who would like to play along with me can choose your books to fit the prompts that were pulled that month and we can each share which books we ended up with for the prompts and discuss our reading throughout the month. There will also be opportunity here for buddy reads- if two of us have the same book to fit a prompt we can pair up and read together or even as a group if it works out.
If you want to participate please let me know in the comments below. Those who do decide to participate can send me a message after the prompts are revealed if you don't have anything on your TBR or anything you plan on purchasing to fit the prompt and I'll roll again for you and give you a new prompt to work with.
Because I also want to participate in Travis's D&D challenge I will personally aim to choose books that can also work for his challenge, the buzz word, read the rainbow, or bingo challenges. This will hopefully be set up to work with the other challenges so we aren't limited to just participating in one.
If I don't get any takers I will forgo the plan to play with the group and just continue on playing by myself but I really, really hope I have convinced some of you to participate because it will be so much more fun to have more players rather than just playing myself.
To summarize:
Don't forget to use the comments portion of this post to join in for the 2022 TBR game. Also don't forget to use this post to share any and all ideas or thoughts you have about challenges you'd like to see in the group or just things you wish we did or could do. I am open to suggestions and actually very much look forward to seeing what you all have to say. If I get enough suggestions perhaps we can put up a poll and vote on some new things for 2022. I really want to emphasize the group thing this year and see If we can come together and have some great fun and discussion!
Talk to you all very soon- Happy Reading and Happy Holidays!
