I think I'm going to check out The Anderson Tapes by Lawrence Sanders because this sounds interesting: the entire story is told in surveillance-tape transcripts and reports from law-enforcement agencies.
UPDATE: I read The Anderson Tapes and didn't love it. The format is interesting but I found it hard to follow and pretty boring.

I'm counting Tristan Strong Punches a Hole in the Sky for this one, since I have way too many portal fantasies.

Have you read the book, Leslie? It's the beginning of a series called "League of Pensioners."


I had not read it at the time you recommended it, but I have since. I enjoyed it quite a bit. I just love stories about older people doing things! I didn't realize it's the beginning of a series. I'll have to hunt the next book up.
