message 1: by Winter, Group Reads (new)

Winter (winter9) | 4998 comments This month we will be reading Outlander by Diana Gabaldon

This is where we will be discussion the book prior to the group read. If you're excited for the book let us know! Have you read it before or is it your first time?

Simone (simonec75) Wooohoooo, I finally have a reason to pick up this doorstopper book. The number of pages has had me move it down my TBR over and over again.

Ashleigh Motbey (ashybear02) | 1686 comments This was an Editor's Extra on Audible I think back in 2020, and it's been sitting there staring at me since. But I always do the January group read, so now I have no excuse lol!

D.L. | 1515 comments I got this book from my awesome Secret Santa this year. What perfect timing!! :)

message 5: by Emily (new)

Emily | 25 comments I’m really looking forward to this. I had already chosen this book to fulfill one of my prompts for another reading challenge next year. It’s been on my TBR for a long time.

Sherry Darbonne | 5 comments I kept seeing this series and never read it because I’m not sure this is the type of book I will enjoy. But I’m willing to give it a try!

Tracy (booksreadbytracy) | 8 comments I love the tv series but haven’t actually read any of the books! I think I will join in on this read!:)

message 8: by Elina (new)

Elina van der Toorn (elinavdt) | 26 comments I think I am one of the few who even haven't seen the series. My mom kept saying it is interesting. Or was it Poldark, I still don't know if it is the same ot two different things :). I suppose it is time to see what all the fuzz is about.

TCampbell | 528 comments Read this a while ago, so will follow the discussion

Lisanne (wolffhoofd) | 101 comments Can’t wait to start this book! Bought it 2.5 years ago in Edinburgh because I love the show so much, so I am super excited to see how the show compares to the actual book.

ffion (readingincandlelight) | 1 comments i adore the tv show, and have been wanting to read this for such a long time, i'll hopefully be able to make it through this through out january

message 12: by Terri (new)

Terri Bundy | 25 comments I’ve picked this book up several times and put it back in favor of something else. I am excited to have some outside motivation to “not put it back”. Have heard and read good reviews!

Martha☀ | 240 comments I am excited to join this group read. I've wanted to read the book but the 900+ pages have intimidated me. I know that it has a huge following and many readers do role play based on it. I have watched a bit of the TV show but I always prefer the book.
I look forward to all your comments as we delve into this tome!

Jenna ✨DNF Queen✨Here, Sometimes... (jennabgemini) | 84 comments Yay! I've read part of Outlander, I think nearly 2 years ago, but life interrupted me and I'm going to start it over fresh, so it was a delight to stumble on this post to see this is going to be a group read!

The Outlander series is one that I want to make a dent in this year and it is a series I'm collecting in "RL" with a specific format/edition - the larger paperbacks. I own the first 3. In general this year I am trying to read books that I already own or that I have already selected to read, including re-reads, so this could not be more perfect!

I haven't watched it either. I also haven't watched Game of Thrones.

You may also enjoy the "Clear the Shelves" challenge this group does...encourages us to read what we own before accumulating more :-)

Yes you're right that's one of my favorites and I'm absolutely participating in it this year! Thanks for the suggestion!

Andreda (andredababy) | 24 comments Yayy I'm excited. I recently just moved to a different state and didn't bring all of my books, but happened to bring this one. This will definitely give me a reason to pick it up instead of just leaving it sitting around when I could've brought a different book with me.

message 19: by Emma (new) - rated it 5 stars

Emma | 199 comments I’m *kind of* looking forward to giving this a go. I love historical fiction but don’t usually like dual timeline stories.

Carla Senior | 3 comments I also started reading this a long time ago and for some reason didn’t get beyond around page 200 so I’m looking forward to this and starting over with you all. Would love to find a good series to get into so fingers crossed for getting hooked!

Kelly | 725 comments Excited to re-read this one!!!! A fantastic series!

Allyson I am new to this group. I have read this book and (sorry fans) it wasn't my cup of tea. Since I have no desire to re-read it, I will read December's book instead. :) Happy reading!

message 23: by Kristi (new)

Kristi I've been intrigued by this book and series for a while, but have received mixed reviews and have never been sure it would be something I would enjoy. I tend to enjoy books of all genres though, so if I can track down a copy, I'd be happy to give it a try.

Michelle (michelleevens42) | 17 comments I've actually been meaning to finish this book for a while now! I think I might have to re-start it, but I don't mind. It will be a great way to start off the new year!

Tracy (booksreadbytracy) | 8 comments I bought the book and will start reading today! So excited to see if I’ll like the book just as much as the tv series!🤗

message 26: by Emma (new) - rated it 5 stars

Emma | 199 comments Although I have this on kindle I have decided to get it on audio as well to see if that helps me get into it( the first time I tried this, I gave up while still in 1945!)

Shreyans Doshi (shreyans800755) | 2 comments I'm new to the group and still trying to figure out my way. I just started with this book. Do I need to mark this anywhere to participate in this ? Or there will be just a discussion thread where people will present their take on it as they progress or after they complete ?

Joy D | 1208 comments I have just been notified that my e-book library loan is ready for me, so I hope to participate in the discussion.

Anne Hawn Smith (hawnsmith) | 146 comments This has been sitting on my TBR for years. Last year I got halfway done and had to give up. The book was filled with too many characters for me to keep straight with all that was going on in my life. This will be great to read with the group.

message 30: by Cat (new) - rated it 4 stars

Cat Taylor | 12 comments Just got my hands on a copy. I'll be going in completely blind, haven't seen the show, excited to dive in tonight!

message 31: by Leandra (new)

Leandra Van | 39 comments okay I am joining in on this one as I have never read it before.
started the book an hour ago and so far it is enticing me to read more.

Lilac (lilac_wales) | 910 comments I recently bought a set of the first few books so this is perfect timing! I'm going in a bit blind and hoping it lives up to the hype :)

Tonya Marie (tpinks315) | 30 comments I finally listened to it not too long ago (I'm currently listening to Book 4 because I got hooked!) because I wanted to watch the series and I have to read the books before I watch series.

I'm excited to be able to finally participate in a group read!

message 34: by Kristine (new) - added it

Kristine | 5 comments I read this series YEARS ago, but I really want to read it again, and this is a great way to do it!

Ashleigh Motbey (ashybear02) | 1686 comments I'm about 1h45min into the audio book and I love it so far! Love the narrator!

message 36: by Samantha (new)

Samantha J | 22 comments I just logged into goodreads for the first time this year.. oops! Going to start it tonight, I'm currently reading YNAB (You Need a Budget) but I'm hoping to be done with it today. I've never read Outlander so I'm excited to start it!

message 37: by Barb (new) - added it

Barb | 130 comments I've had this book on my list for a while now; looking forward to finally reading it!

Christine | 13 comments Have just downloaded this for the January challenge, not sure what to expect as I'm not familiar with this book/author!

message 39: by Kim (new) - rated it 5 stars

Kim (kimkienzle) I read this when it first came out and still have my original paperback copy, which has been shared, borrowed and reread!

message 40: by Kelly (new) - added it

Kelly | 725 comments I read this and the second or third book a few years ago, but I have been wanting to reread it and finish the series!
