Starting off the journey in my home country with Sourdough which takes place in the San Francisco Bay Area. A very appealing setting which makes you want to visit the area. Stopping off next in London, England with High Fidelity. Setting did not play a huge part in this book other than lending it a nerdy, cool London vibe.

I don't know how I missed Jade Dragon Mountain set in Ancient China but I'm adding it now as #4.

5. The Light Between Oceans, Australia 2022

Setting was everything in this book. A lighthouse off the coast of Austrailia where two oceans meet. Great writing.

That sounds really interesting. I may have to add it to my already too long TBR.

Adding #6 to the list Positano, Italy with One Italian Summer . This one made me want to take an Italian vacation. Or at least drink wine and eat pasta.

Adding Argo: How the CIA & Hollywood Pulled Off the Most Audacious Rescue in History for Iran in the Middle East. Cool spy stuff. Also The White Mirror for Ancient Tibet in Asia. This was the sequel to Jade Dragon Mountain so I'm queuing up for the next in the series and hoping it takes me to another ancient Asian setting.

Adding #9 Memoirs of a Geisha. Japan's culture and history are highlighted in this modern day classic.

#10 The Lioness takes me to Tanzania, Africa on safari.

Traveling back to Europe to add The Paris Diversion . A thrill ride from start to finish.

Reading my way through the Cuban communist take over with Waiting for Snow in Havana: Confessions of a Cuban Boy. Excellent memoir.

Adding #13 The House of the Spirits which takes place in revolutionary Chile.

Circling back to Japan again with Geisha, a Life.

Learning about revolution in Romania with I Must Betray You.

#17 is another for Europe - Prisoners of the Castle: An Epic Story of Survival and Escape from Colditz, the Nazis' Fortress Prison.

#18 adding A Gentleman in Moscow for Russia. I'm calling that Asia. Is Russia Asia or is it Europe? I mean I know where it is but what do we consider it? I'm calling it Asia.

Russia is in Asia and Europe, however, Moscow is in Europe, I believe.

Most of my books lately seem to be in the U.S. or in countries I've already read from. I guess it's time I do a little more of that armchair traveling.
