Dawn | 26 comments After getting stalled on Vancouver last year, I'm hoping to summit THIS year. Three TBR books read so far in '22: American Dirt, The Great Influenza, and Spillover. Just started A Fall of Marigolds.
Nothing if not variety in my TBR stacks! Now, just to find new homes for my completed books!

Gabby | 6 comments I understand that last bit all to well. Whole lotta books, itty bitty space. Good luck on your climb this year!

Thanks, Gabby! If any of my 'read books' catch your eye, let me know!

Dawn | 26 comments Off to a great start! Six books finished, but one was just gifted to me, so five from my TBR stack count.
"The Last Thing He Told Me"
"My Grandmother Asked Me To Tell You She's Sorry" (gifted)

Dawn | 26 comments TBR book #6 finished: "This Tender Land."

message 6: by Dawn (new)

Dawn | 26 comments TBR book #7 complete: "Slavery by Another Name."

message 7: by Dawn (new)

Dawn | 26 comments 10 books complete, including 8 TBRs!

Dawn, you're doing great!

Dawn | 26 comments I just read two very different books over the past week and enjoyed them both: "The Beekeeper of Aleppo" and "The Thursday Murder Club." Twelve books completed with 10 (including these two) TBRs.

message 10: by Dawn (new)

Dawn | 26 comments A third of the way there! Two more TBR books finished, bringing me up to 12. I read three books about Afghanistan the past week: "One Half From the East," "The Dressmaker of Khair Khana" and "The Broken Circle."

message 11: by Dawn (new)

Dawn | 26 comments 17 books complete, including 14 TBRs! "The Underground Girls of Kabul" (excellent) and "The Last Green Valley" were the two most recent from my TBR stack.

message 12: by Dawn (new)

Dawn | 26 comments 20 books read and up to 16 TBRs. Just finished "A World on the Wing" (fascinating book!) and "Soul Surfer." Added bonus: I have two boxes of books packed up to donate to a great cause!

Dawn | 26 comments Just wrapped up reading "The Kindness Diaries" and realized I hadn't counted another TBR book "One Half From the East" in my tally, so I'm halfway there--18 TBRs of the 21 books I've read so far.

message 14: by Dawn (new)

Dawn | 26 comments Twenty TBRs! Finally read a couple of books that spent years in my stack: "Impossible Odds" and "License to Pawn." Two books that couldn't have been more different--one about the Seal Team 6 rescue of a captured humanitarian worker in Somalia, and one about the History Channel hit show, which was really entertaining.

Dawn | 26 comments Two more books in three days! A couple of LONG time TBRs: Maeve Binchy's "Nights of Rain and Stars" and a fun mystery "Mr. Monk Goes to Hawaii" so 22 finished!

message 16: by Dawn (new)

Dawn | 26 comments The summit is already within reach! TBR count is now 25 of the 28 I've read this year. Finished a few I've had for a VERY long time: Maeve Binchy's "London Transports," a Newberry winner "Kira Kira" and after all these years, I finally read "Tuesdays With Morrie."

Dawn | 26 comments 30 books with 2 more TBRs the last few days, so I've climbed 75% of Ararat. Highly recommend both: Anne Tyler's "Digging to America" (an author I've always loved) and Jeannette Wall's "The Glass Castle." Now I want to read more from both authors. The struggle is real!

Dawn | 26 comments Two more TBRs finished! One that has moved into my Top 10, Barbara Kingsolver's "The Bean Trees" and the other that landed solidly in my Bottom 5: "Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close." From the reviews, it looks like this is a love it/hate it book, and I had to go with the latter. I was really disappointed in this one and gave it 1 star.

Dawn | 26 comments Two more TBRs that I've had a few years and wondering why I even wasted the room on my shelves. Both really hyped and both really disappointing. "Behind the Beautiful Forevers" and "My Absolute Darling." My last three reads barely add up to 1 star, so hoping for something I enjoy for #35 for the year (#32 TBRs.)

Dawn | 26 comments 33 TBRs finished! Is it too early to set my sights on Mt. Ararat? I really enjoyed the two I just read: "Orange is the New Black" and "Tell the Wolves I'm Home." Highly recommend both.

Dawn | 26 comments Reached the summit! Appropriately, a couple of books about walking got me there: "A Walk Across America" and "Grandma Gatewood's Walk" along with a short Anne Lamott book "Help Thanks Wow." On to Ararat...
