A dead woman's body is carefully arranged on a playground bench - the playground where Mavis takes her daughter to play, near the home being renovated for Mavis, Peabody and McNab. And there are several missing women who look like the victim. With possible danger to her friends, Eve is determined to find the killer quickly before he kills again.

Usual formula, but despite the overly dramatic psychosis of the killer, the ending manages to be believable enough. And at last Jamie returns to the greater story arc, after an overly long hiatus. This series continues to entertain with cozy, familiar characters.

I love this series in audio and usually have it pre-ordered as soon as it's available. In fact, I just put Desperation in Death in my shopping cart. I'm letting my sister listen to this one first, but am eager to get to it soon. Great to see Jamie making an appearance. Over 54 books these characters have become so real to me. In fact, my husband knows if I ever fall into a coma, he's to play them all in order so if I'm conscious at any point I'll be able to be entertained!

LOL what a great idea! I should tell my husband the same thing. When I was in the hospital for my broken hip, I never watched TV, only read, and all I read was this series, from the beginning. I went home before I finished them all, but got through over half the series.
