iamaunicornwithyellowfeet (bookobsessedblob) | 567 comments I really enjoyed this book! It not only provided authentic detail on what it's like to be a Muslim, but also to be desi

T ✩ Handmaiden Of Amidala (tarria) | 113 comments I loved it! it was so witty and hilarious. I loved Khaled's character, Ayesha not so much but they were great together. And I agree that all the little cultural details really made it feel real - and gave me a craving for chai - I literally made some straight after I finished the book! We need more good desi rep in YA.

iamaunicornwithyellowfeet (bookobsessedblob) | 567 comments YES I AGREE
And this book wasn’t even YA, it was adult
Ugh please can someone write more

T ✩ Handmaiden Of Amidala (tarria) | 113 comments Oh I didn't realise it wasn't YA I just assumed for some reason lol. Probably because I'm so used to seeing a lot of explicit stuff in adult books, it was great to have a clean romance for a change!
Yes we need more. I especially want to find a book similar to this but about practising Muslim Bengali girls!

iamaunicornwithyellowfeet (bookobsessedblob) | 567 comments Ooh yes!
I know the MC in counting down with you is Bengali, but I’m 99% sure I heard people saying the rep was terrible

T ✩ Handmaiden Of Amidala (tarria) | 113 comments yeah I've heard nothing good about that book, from the terrible Muslim rep to the lacking and generic Bengali culture portrayal. The second thing disappoints me most because we have such a beautiful and unique culture, and a good author could spin something really special with it.

iamaunicornwithyellowfeet (bookobsessedblob) | 567 comments It’s an adult book, because the main characters are adults. There isn’t really anything inappropriate in it though
