Do I need to read the first 3 before reading this?

I found this book at a flea market and thought it would be fun to read. So the question is can I read this before the first books or does the story make no sense if read this first?
You can read this one first. It'll be more enjoyable if you have the backstory of the main character's parents and how The Selection works, but you'll catch up just fine I think, if you want to just read this one first.
