Proposta:
- um livro a cada trimestre;
- autores africanos, independentemente de raça ou país;
- originais em português ou traduções para o português;

Proposal:
- one book every three months;
- african authors, independently of race or country;
- originals in Portuguese or Portuguese translations;
- fiction, nonfiction, or academic.
Nominate books that fulfill these criteria (for the April/May/June trimester) or suggest changes to the proposal, by posting comments in this topic.
You can also second nominations.

Orgeluse | 481 comments I like all your proposals. As it was pointed out in the other thread there are helas not too many books by African authors writing in Portuguese but I would propose That Hair by Djaimilia Pereira de Almeida. She is from Angola and the novel is partly autobiographic. There are also other titles by her which sound interesting, above all Luanda, Lisboa, Paraíso but unfortunately it has not yet been translated...

Hi, Orgeluse.
You mentioned two books in your post and they showed on the side of the screen as "books mentioned in this topic". How do you do that? How do you link a book, as opposed to just typing a title? I appreciate if you can help me. I am new to Goodreads.
I tried sending this as an individual message but it didn't work.

Hi Ana Lucia,
it is quite easy if you know where to click :))
If you write a comment and want to link books and / or authors you have to click on "add book/author" that you will find at the top of the box you are writing in. In the window that opens up, you can search the book by title or you can also search the author. Once you have found the title / author you can press add and the link is inserted into your comment.
Sometimes if the title of the book is similar to other titles, it is advisable to search for the author first and then switch to book.

As for sending individual messages to other members here on GR: I remember having read somewhere that you can only send private messages to members you are friends with to prevent people from receiving strange messages from complete strangers.
I hope I could be of help! Looking forward to reading Portuguese titles!

Wow, nice! Thank you for the walkthrough.
I will test it now with Ilha de Nome Santo , a book by Francisco José Tenreiro from São Tomé e Príncipe.
It worked! Very helpful feature. I had not noticed it. You are right: it is easy if you know where to click. :)
Thank you also for the info about messaging. That makes sense.

I just voted on the poll, it was a hard choice to make.
I already read Os Transparentes when it was a group read in Nov-Dec 2019 (see the thread here and don't hesitate to post comments) and I did enjoy it.

Finally I voted for Teoria Geral do Esquecimento, as the only other book I read by José Eduardo Agualusa (O Vendedor de Passados, another past group read) was sublime!
