Challenge 1 - Short Stories - Author Challenges
In this challenge your goal is to read short stories by authors whose names start with each letter of the alphabet.
OR
If you are more map-minded, you can try to read short stories by authors from as many countries as you can.

Oh thank you! Both sound interesting by the title! Will look them up. I did remember Stefan Zweig yesterday and found a story by him (in German) that was a bit disturbing, hadn't expected that, pretty obsessive, dark stuff.

Nadine | 9 comments I was just looking back at the stories I read lately... and a thought crossed my mind... do you think that the happy ending rate in short stories is a lot lower than in novels? Maybe authors feel more at ease killing off (or sending into misery...) their heroes if the reader had only a short amount of time to fall for them?
I have the feeling that the endings are a lot more often tragic. Or maybe it is the more classical genre of the short stories I read?

Agreed. I think authors don't think readers can connect as deeply with short story characters as they can with those in a novel.
