This is one of me and addys non horror buddy reads but all are welcome to join.

Addy | 1944 comments So far so good. I'm almost 15%. I really like the different pov's and how it switches from Olivia to zoey.

Justin (justineaton) | 3492 comments Mod
Yea me too, I love point of view books. I was kind of disappointed it didn't have the brothers point of view also but I'm enjoying it though.

Addy | 1944 comments Wow, even I feel hurt by her brothers abandonment on their birthday. He was kinda harsh. I understand he wants his own identity but I think I would be hurt too. What did u think of that conversation?

Addy | 1944 comments I'm at 30%. Thanks for waiting:)

Justin (justineaton) | 3492 comments Mod
It was a bit harsh but I understand his wanting to do something with his friends also, with their parents being MIA and her going to a small private school with no real friends except her brother he is all she's got but he goes to a public school and has friends. She probably wants to spend all their time together while he wants to do stuff with other people as well. Still though, he knew she was going to spend get birthday alone and could have at least let her come to the casino with them.

Justin (justineaton) | 3492 comments Mod
I have already said it, but I again wish their was chapters with the brothers point of view so we could see how he is feeling about stuff like this.

Addy | 1944 comments Yeah I totally agree. Some insight from Liam's pov would have been nice.

Justin (justineaton) | 3492 comments Mod
I'm at 59% I figured I would read another thirty but this was a good stopping point. I will wait for you before I comment though.

Addy | 1944 comments I thought it was nice of Zoey to spend Olivia's birthday with her. And then when Zoey says it's the first time she's left her sister and felt she was safe, really struck a chord with me. Wow. I think it's the start of a friendship. I'm interested to see where it goes.

Addy | 1944 comments I'm almost to 50%. It's just kinda weird and fascinating to me. Can two girls really fall for each other not knowing what sex they are rally attracted to? Can someone love a girl and a boy? I mean, I know it's prob happened and this story is exploring it in a real way, but I just can't grasp it.

I'm going to copy and paste that to break the individual questions down.

I'm almost to 50%. It's just kinda weird and fascinating to me. Can two girls really fall for each other not knowing what sex they are rally attracted to? [They have to figure it out at some point right? They are still teenagers and Neither has mentioned having a serious relationship of any kind, yes I would think they would have some kind of clue before now but I don't think it is unbelievable if they didn't. That being said, I don't think either is physically attracted to the other at this point, their friendship is getting stronger and they obviously are starting to care about each other but nothing outside of a normal friendship yet].Can someone love a girl and a boy? I mean, I know it's prob happened and this story is exploring it in a real way, but I just can't grasp it. [That would be bisexual and yes it happens all the time, again though there is no mention in either girls pov stories that mentions physical attraction. No she didn't object to being called his girlfriend but she was surprised by it and didn't really seem to think of him that way. Right now I think all the relationships in the book are just friendships but I think everyone is going to start developing deeper feelings pretty soon as the story progresses.

Addy | 1944 comments That was great feedback Justin. Thank you! It kinda sucks that someone is going to get hurt whichever way it turns out.

Addy | 1944 comments I've never heard of a banana boat. I sooo want to make one now!

Justin (justineaton) | 3492 comments Mod
Based on the book description I would say yes, from reading it I can hardly believe that liam would get hurt though just because the entire novel has focused on Olivia and Zoey. She was surprised about the girlfriend title and the entire relationship has been very casual, if he tells Olivia he is in love with her without the novel focusing on their relationship and building things up between them first I'm going to be seriously disappointed.

Justin (justineaton) | 3492 comments Mod
It did sound good, very messy though I will have to remember to bring bananas and forks next time I go camping.

I'm turning my phone off because it is almost dead and my charger sucks, but I'm going to try to read to around the 75% Mark tonight

Addy | 1944 comments Oh no Olivia...someone needs to know...lol. I got to 67%. It's starting to get really good and really complicated. I could easily finish this tomorrow.

Justin (justineaton) | 3492 comments Mod
I ended up finishing it, I'm all caught up on everything else and have a ton of buddy reads starting soon so I didn't want to start anything else. No rush though, just let me know when you are done.

Addy | 1944 comments Hmm. Can't make up my mind on this one. What are your thoughts? I can't say I'm completely satisfied. I think it ended way too easily.

Yes it did, I think the entire story came to easy. The reason I like ya lgbt novels so much, or part of the reason anyway, is that the characters have so many conflicting emotions from confusion about how they are feeling, to worry about what others will say, to anxiety over Not knowing if the other person would feel the same, etc...... this story had none of that. Olivia just decided to kiss her then they laughed and that was that. Even though it was told in first person pov and we know that neither of them had been having that kind of feelings about each other until it happened. Then afterwords, all the potential problems that each character was facing just miraculously solved themselves. Zoeys mom got a job out of the blue, Olivia had a revelation about gymnastics that changed her life in half a page and threw her meds out, her brother wasnt upset so no one got hurt our had to make any tough decisions. Then it skips forward and they are living together but mentions doing it for the college experience so I'm not sure if anyone else knows they are more than roommates. What did Zooeys family think? Did Olivia tell her parents? Ava was looking like she was going to be a big problem and be mean to both and probably tell people if she found out because that's what kind of person she was but we have no idea if she did find out because like all the other problems with this book that one just magicly went away also. I was disappointed their story for class started out like it was maybe going to reflect their own relationship as they grew closer and intertwine with the story but we only heard a little about it and then they turned it in and where done with it. Add all that to the complaints I have already made about the brothers P.O.V. not being added to it and the fact that the synapses of the book draws you in thinking it is about a love triangle so you expect some drama and it ends up just focusing on two characters with very little emotion put into it, and it really wasn't a very good book. I feel like it was a good story, just shallow and poorly told.

Addy | 1944 comments I completely agree. It felt like a cop out that the author just decided that everything would be honky dory. Every time I would read that something great happened I would brace myself for some drama but it never came. Big disappointment. The story was good and the characters, zoey and Olivia, were a nice touch but the author could have made this so much better. It just seemed like a lot was left out. I'll prob give this a 3 because I did enjoy reading about Zooey and Olivia. The ending was just crap...lol.

Justin (justineaton) | 3492 comments Mod
It was about a 2.5 for me and I rounded it down. It was a hard decision between two and three though I might go back and move it up.
