I hypothesize that every book a fictional character reads has something to do with the story directly

Thyrza I saw that Irving (John Turturro) was reading this book in the series "Severance" and had to find out what the book was about. Every time a character reads a book in a fictional story, the book has something directly to do with the story at hand. This quote in the synopsis sums up Irving's character in the series
"monument to a government of service and duty and has been praised for its "exquisite accent and its infinite tenderness.

The scene depicts Irving sitting on a bench outdoors in the winter watching a bald eagle fly over and then petting his dog. The camera is below him giving the character a sense of grand nobility and wisdom also the notion that he is a tender man to be kind to his dog and yet you sense that he is preoccupied with deep thoughts on philosophical subjects.
