Debra Harrison (bookcollecting101) | 7 comments The Mist is one of my favorite Stephen King stories. It is now available as a stand-alone book on Amazon. It is available for $6.99 in paperback and $8.99 for Kindle. You can find it here: https://amzn.to/3MaVhXF I hope to find some folks to read and discuss this book with me.

James | 14 comments I never liked the ending of the movie. Just another example of Hollywood screwing up Kings work. The book ending is much better. The movie ending is devastating to anyone watching it, while the book ending was all about hope. Complete about face for shock value. The same thing with Jaws. The ending of the book and the ending of the movie are totally different. A sensationalized ending in the movie while the book ended with one of the most tense passages I have ever read in a book.

I agree completely, James. But I was also completely flummoxed when I heard (correctly?) that King himself actually praised the movie's ending. I remember thinking, "Come on, Steve, you have better taste than that!"

Derrick | 974 comments King definitely said he liked the ending of the movie more than the book and he even said he wished he would have thought of it!

Bangkok Shocks, Saigon Shakes, Blastronaut Rocks.. (blastyulbynner) | 32 comments Really enjoyed The Mist. And tho the film doesn't better the book (do they ever?) I did enjoy that too. Guess I'm in a very small minority then when I say that I thought Darabont's alternative ending worked really well. Hits like a sledgehammer! I thought it was a decent dark twist. Just my opinion obviously. Not trying to play devil's advocate.... just saying how I see it is all.
