Extreme Ownership: How U.S. Navy SEALs Lead and Win

No stand-out favorite this month.
(I find it difficult to read the titles off those tiny cover thumbnails, so I include both.)

Oh, I'll be adding at least two more! I saw that other people were doing "so far," so I joined in haha

So far my favorite for this month was Wives and Daughters

That's what I'm reading right now!
Only problem: in the very back they had definitions/references for words or people the reader might not be familiar with...I went to look up one of the words...and didn't turn far enough. So now I now the end. While I was still on the first few chapters😔😖 But I don't know how they got there so I'm still reading.

(Sorry I meant that to be a reply for Wives and Daughters)

Ahhh, I hate when that happens! That's what I *accidentally* did with 1984 🥺

I know! Right now, I'm trying to pretend I DO NOT know what is going to happen between two of the characters!
I haven't read 1984. How was it?

Did (view spoiler) 😅 I really appreciated some parts of 1984, especially where the story mirrors our own world. On the other hand, Orwell seemed to have some strange idea that depravity and sexual freedom was the key to resisting against the government. I don't agree with that at all, and I'm sure you wouldn't either.

I can tell you, but I don't know how do do (spoilers) yet! Help!
Hmmm, yeah, I don't think I would agree with Orwell there!

I think you can only do spoilers if you're on a laptop/computer. If you are, just click on the (some html is ok) and copy and paste the one for spoilers. :)

The Jasen Experiment

The Death Cure

I read 7 books:
Gallant by V.E. Schwab
In the Wild Light by Jeff Zentner
Diary of a Wimpy Kid by Jeff Kinney
City of the Plague God by Sarwat Chadda
Squirreled Away by Mike Nawrocki
Death on the Nile by Agatha Christie
Dark Rise by C.S. Pacat
I think my favorite was probably In the Wild Light; City of the Plague God was also really fun, but I read most of it in December actually haha

I listened to the audiobook in April :) I originally read Dune back in 2013 and found it a bit tedious. Political intrigue is not really my thing. When the movie came out, I loved it, so I thought I would revisit the book and then try to finish the series.
How much of the Dune series have you read, Ellie?

The Everafter War 1st time reading, 5 stars
The Inside Story 1st time, 5 stars
The Council of Mirrors 1st time, 5 stars
To Kill a Mockingbird 1st time, 5 stars
Rebel Spy 1st time, 3 stars
St. Faustina Prayer Book for the Holy Souls in Purgatory 1st time, 5 stars
The Two Princesses of Bamarre read it twice in the month, 5 big stars

Ooh, what did you think of Death on the Nile?

It wasn't my favorite :( I was really expecting to like it because I've loved a lot of her other stuff. I think it was more of an "it's not the book, it's me" situation; I've been sleepy, which is not a good mood for a mood reader haha. I'm still hoping to see the movie though :P

Oh, got it! I'm definitely wanting to read more Agatha Christie novels. Do you think you would've liked it better in a different situation, then?

I definitely think so. My problem was legit that people were being killed and the murder(s) were terrible people - but murder mysteries are my favorite, and the murderers are often terrible people?? And people being killed are kind of required for a murder mystery??? Lol send help. It also took me a long time to finish it, so I kind of lost the thread sometimes.

XD You lost me lol. I've watched the TV episode version, so I think I remember at least the general plot. You mean that it was a terrible person murdering someone or that someone terrible was murdered?

Oh no, sorry - I meant the murderer(s) were terrible. But they weren't really more terrible than murderers usually are in murder mysteries? Really it was me overreacting to the story because I need about ten naps 🙃
