Thank you everyone for your patience with me while I tried to find the time to get this month's prompts up- its been a really busy few weeks. Anyway there are a couple updates/changes for this month so read a little more carefully.

1. Punishments are back on after our two month hiatus- it was lovely while it lasted though!
2. I'm changing the double up rule from one to however many you can manage to double up. you can only use one book for two turns worth of prompts max but you can double up however many you can manage. I decided on this rule change because its already quite tricky to find one book that essentially fits four prompts so the likelihood of finding several that will work each month is pretty slim as it is.. but consider it an added challenge to find those "unicorn" books!

the Prompts:

Turn #1
Card: A book by an author that has a name starting with 'A', 'H' or 'Z'.
Roll: A new author.

explanation: Read a book by a new-to-you author with a name starting with the letters A, H, or Z. I will accept first or last names in this case.

Turn #2:
Card: A book you keep seeing everywhere.
Roll: A paperback.

explanation: Read a book you've been seeing everywhere in paperback format. Emphasis on "seeing". Last month we had the prompt to read a book we kept hearing about so this month let's differentiate a bit and pick a book we keep seeing- whether thats on TikTok, other social media sites, or every time you visit the bookstore. Just make sure when you pick this title you're choosing from the paperbacks on your shelves.

Turn #3:
Card: A book with mountains on the cover.
Roll: Roll again.

explanation: Read any book on your shelves that have mountains on the cover. I will also accept mountain/s in the title if you can't find any with mountains on the cover. There is no secondary prompt but we do have to add a roll at the end.

Turn #4:
Card: An adult main character.
Roll: A new release.

explanation: Choose a book that was released in the last 6 months that has an adult main character.

Turn #5:
Card: A retelling.
Roll: An advanced reader copy.

explanation: choose a book from your advanced reader copies that is a retelling for this prompt. I realize this may be impossible for some people so don't worry- ill happily do a re-roll for those of you that need it. Many of these prompts are geared specifically towards my own goals and books since I originally made this game for myself.

Extra Roll:
Card: A book that keeps falling off your TBR.
Roll: Next in a series.

explanation: this should be pretty easy for most of us- choose a book thats next in a series you're reading that you keep adding to your TBR but never get to reading.

ok guys- those are all the prompts for May! as always please leave your chosen TBR below for us all to see and come back here to update the group with your progress throughout the month. I cant wait to see what you all choose...

Until then I only have one more thing to say: May the 4th be with you all!!! 😝💫

Ok I'm pretty excited for this month...

1. Author's name who starts with 'A' 'H' or 'Z'/New to me author: This will pair nicely with the quarterly challenge
Watchmen by Alan Moore
2. A book I keep seeing/Paperback: This book is on almost every list I look at
The Dead House by Dawn Kurtagich
3. Mountains on the cover/Reroll
Man-Eater The Life and Legend of an American Cannibal by Harold Schechter
4. Adult main character/New release: I'm a sucker for an Amy Cross book
The Haunting of Quist House by Amy Cross
5. Can I also get a reroll? I'm fine with whatever one you give to the commenter before me, Jane. Thanks!!

6. Keeps falling off my TBR/Next in series
The Alloy of Law (Mistborn, #4) by Brandon Sanderson

Most of these pair very nicely with other monthly challenges or the quarterly challenge for me, so I'm going to be trying extra hard this month to read through them all. I'm excited! Happy reading all(:

I'm going to approach this two ways- one in which we keep the card prompt and just re-roll the dice. and one where we swap out the entire thing. Try to use the retelling portion if you can, if not then use the second option. have fun!

option #1:
Card: Read a Retelling
Roll: Freebie!

option #2:
Card: Read a book you got second hand.
Roll: Wordle!

I'm so excited to see the wordle! prompt come up lol. what this means is you need to use a word from past wordles to pick the book. so you would choose one of the wordle words to choose a book you bought second hand. I have some of the words that I can share as I've been slowly solving all the old wordles for just this purpose. here some of them are:

Rebut
Sissy
Humph
Awake
Blush
Focal
Evade
Naval
Serve
Heath

You can use one of these words any way that you want to choose the book- whether the word is actually on the cover somewhere or if one of the words fits the theme of the story or the color of the cover or whatever...., it's up to you. I'm sure if you go online you can find a list of more wordle words if none of these work for you.... and if you dont know what Wordle is.. where have you been??? lol

Awesome! Thanks Summer! I will continue with the retellig arc - I have a book that fits it.

And not to sound weird or anything... But what is Wordle? I have never seen it anywhere or heard of it...
