Kelsea Glynn is the Queen of the Tearling. Despite her youth, she has quickly asserted herself as a fair, just and powerful ruler.

However, power is a double-edged sword, and small actions can have grave consequences. In trying to do what is right - stopping a vile trade in humankind - Kelsea has crossed the Red Queen, a ruthless monarch whose rule is bound with dark magic and the spilling of blood. The Red Queen's armies are poised to invade the Tearling, and it seems nothing can stop them.

Yet there was a time before the Crossing, and there Kelsea finds a strange and possibly dangerous ally, someone who might hold the key to the fate of the Tearling, and indeed to Kelsea's own soul. But time is running out...

Ok, weird things are going on with Kelsea in chapter 4 - what was that??? I might wait to see what you think...

I'm sorry. I can't read this. The voice is different than the first one, and it just sounds awful. Like it's probably the worst narrator ever. I hope you like the book though!

That's ok, though, I've got a feeling you would not have liked it... I think there are some weird things to come, as well as some disturbing things... I'll see!

Chapter 8: (view spoiler)[Ok, I change my mind, the bit with the pre-crossing and Lily is interesting, you win book. ;)

Also, we get some explanation of what's happening to Kelsea, thankfully, though I still think she'd got a bit too much of a sexual awakening going on.

The new head of the church in the book is horrifying. I hope Father Tyler finally chooses a side, it's not like he has a choice.

End of Book 2: (view spoiler)[I don't like Kelsea transformation (physical but especially in terms of personality). Doesn't seem to add up at all, so I really hope we get a decent explanation for it, otherwise this really isn't good character development...

"The socialist experiment in the UK" makes me laugh because I don't see the UK going socialist in any plausible way in 60 years or so, the author definitely jumped the gun there. Could have made the pre-crossing more far away in the future honestly, and it would have been more believable.

Not sure what this crossing is going to be, not loving the god-like qualities of William Tear. Too much "one special person will save us all" kind of thing. Reminds me of Hari Seldon in Foundation the TV show. (hide spoiler)]
