NancyJ (nancyjjj) | 11067 comments I had a hard time finding books I could stick with this week. My brain apparently needed something light and fun, so when I saw this had LGBT tags, it was an easy choice. This is the third book in the Murderbot Series. I really enjoyed the first two book in this series. The author manages to make this anti-social (partly human?) robot both funny and touching. I liked this book, but not nearly as much as the first one. My favorite guest character in this episode (it feels like a TV series) is the "pet" robot who was on the same transport to an abandoned planet. He had a great one liner straight out of Monty Python. It made me laugh out loud and call out to my husband. (There are only a few movies that we are both able to quote from.) I have a feeling that the author fits in many small references to movies or comic books, just to give pleasure to the people who happen to recognize them (without alienating those who don't.)

The story was fine, but the ending felt very rushed, and left me feeling vaguely dissatisfied. I felt like something was missing. It was over so quickly. The next book (#4) is available on Libby, but I should probably wait. I want to avoid consuming books like they're potato chips.

Note - I'm not sure why this book has so many LGBT tags. I wonder if it's because Murderbot has no specific gender?
