The Reading Frenzy discussion

Hello and thank you for joining us for another round of my TBR game. Last month went quite well for me. It was the first month so far this year that I actually completed my TBR 🎉 I hope you all had a similar experience!!

As for the rules, I think you all know what they are by now but if not please refer to June's discussion thread and find them there.. that will save me some time as far as typing goes so thank you!

The Prompts:

Turn #1
Card: Read a book you've gotten from a book box.
Roll: New Author.

explanation: This is one of the prompts that is geared more to my personal goals so if you don't receive a book box I'll accept a book you won in a giveaway or an ARC you were sent by a publisher.. or any book you received that was a surprise to you and is also an author you haven't read from before. Feel free to ask for a re-roll if you cant make this one work!

Turn #2
Card: Mood read!!
Roll: Any book from a past TBR/ a book you meant to read in 2021 and never got to.

explanation: Any book you had on any past TBR ever.. choose based on your mood!

Turn #3
Card: Read a book about siblings.
Roll: Odd page #.

explanation: I don't think you need one for this lol. although I will allow you to read a book that has an even page number as long as an edition that does have an odd pg # exists.

Turn #4
Card: Read a book you got second hand.
Roll: A contemporary book.

explanation: For second hand I'll accept any book you purchased, were given, or borrowed that has already been read as long as its a contemporary book which can mean a mystery/thriller, romance, literary fiction, whatever as long as its set in current times and has no fantastical elements.

Turn #5
Card: Let a group member choose your book!
Roll: next in a series.

explanation: I'm so glad a prompt like this came up again since it was so fun last time but this time- you can make a post right here in the discussion with a few books you need to read in a series you've started and we will all leave comments on each others to vote for one. Please take the time to vote on everyones- its more fun that way!!

Turn #6 (punishment)
Card: Read a book with leaves on the cover.
Roll: Freebie!

The game was quite nice to us this time around allowing for mood reads and freebies- that should make it easy for us to double up and give ourselves a nice break this month. Even though I'm considering June a win for myself I'm still going for the punishment prompt since technically I did miss a prompt last month.

I cant wait to see all of your choices for July's prompts and do not forget to post a list of choices for us to vote on. I'll let the voting begin today and last until end of Monday. If you're late getting here don't worry we will work it out.

Both have been on TBR's in the past and both are fantasy which mood wise, I think I need this month. So they'll work for prompt 2 as well. Most of my reading has been way too heavy. Thanks all in advance for helping me choose!

omg you guys I forgot that the books up for vote needed to be sequels!! so I had to pick new ones- so sorry!

Looks like we're good, there's an edition that matches the page count mine says so Goodreads approved!

So I completed both Twin Crowns and Finlay Donovan Is Killing It which completes prompts 1,3,4, & 6.

I started Queen of Air and Darkness but only got about 100 pgs in- so I'm carrying it over to August for one of those prompts (I think) and since the book is about 900 pages long having read 100 barely puts a dent in it so I feel ok counting it again!

Well, I got through 4 of the 6 prompts, I didn't finish Crooked Kingdom, only like 100 pages in. But all in all, not too bad this month!
