Robin Brown Clune | 5 comments As the author of this work, I'm not sure that the perspective presented in the first paragraph can be legitimate. I think a better way to approach a discussion starter would be for the author to present his goals in writing it. What is the "moral" of this book. What is it supposed to be teaching us?

Frankly from the Amazon blurb copied and reposted here, it sounds like a dry recitation of facts that would do nothing to further a discussion. I could get facts on any number of things, like number of lynchings in the USA since 1960, number of cases of housing discrimination since the Fair Housing Act was passed in 1964, the number of white Americans who justify being prejudiced because of their single incident with a person of color. That wouldn't further the discussion either.

The author could posit a theory of interest and see what kind of discussion it raises. Otherwise this is just a dull list of "facts" which may (or may not, I haven't seen the book) be supported with citations.
