What's the Name of That Book??? discussion

Hi, I'm looking for book titles or the name of an author. About two years ago, I read two books by the same author, about the same character. The character is some kind of ex-commando or Seal (not SAS, I don't think, I seem to remember he was American), and he was into providing private security. He worked with his dog, and he'd provided his dog with a special harness that contained some special technology, like a GPS tracker and special communications devices. I can't for the life of me think what the book titles or the name of the author were. Has anyone read any of these books? I'd be grateful if you could point me in the right direction.
