So you all don't feel left out:

There was an error starting about line 20 or 25 on the books read tab. It was giving books over 500 pages 15 ingredients instead of 12.

It should be fixed now on your team sheet. But if you copied the main sheet to make a tracking sheet, you'll need to fix that on your own so I wanted to make teams aware of the correction.

But because I am awesome and only noticed it because of our tracking sheet, it's already fixed there too :P

Sonia (darktalynn) | 11599 comments And that's why all this challenges later you still are the Mistress of Lust

Judith (brownie72011) | 7434 comments Mod
I would blush, but really at this point what makes the Mistress of Lust blush?

Hehe!

Sammy (sammystarbuck) | 12860 comments If a horde of 300 scantily clad warriors doesn't do it, I'm not sure anything will :D

message 14: by Sonia (new)

Sonia (darktalynn) | 11599 comments Hello fellow trouble makers!!!

So.. are you doing a in between challenges break/pause, or are you already busy lining up ingredients/recipes.

No Sammy, I am not looking at your piles of books already on the kitchen counter.

message 15: by Jenny (new)

Jenny | 8050 comments I'm still playing Turf, so I have not slowed down. I am reading more short books.

message 16: by Sammy (new)

Sammy (sammystarbuck) | 12860 comments I don't only have my books for the first round lined up... I have more-or-less got them in order of how I want to read them (subject to mood, but some of them are disappearing from audible+ before the end of the month, so I need to get a wiggle on, lol)

message 17: by Sonia (new)

Sonia (darktalynn) | 11599 comments Lol

message 18: by Sonia (new)

Sonia (darktalynn) | 11599 comments Good Morning troublemakers!!!!

Just to make sure, because brain is all messed up at this point, bundles need to be tagged as individual books, right?

message 19: by Sonia (new)

Sonia (darktalynn) | 11599 comments Btw, my 5 days off are going to be from September 5 to September 9. Which means I'll probably be off the grid from 4th to 10th.

I'm pretty sure reading won't be happening that much. Park is open from 10 AM to 11 PM, sooooo, yeah. Shower and crashing are the most certain outcomes.

Weather is getting weird today, so, onto check forecasting for Salou & Barça

Your vacation sounds very exciting! I'm glad you are able to take the time to enjoy and have fun :)

message 21: by Jenny (new)

Jenny | 8050 comments I hope the weather holds for you! That does sound like fun.

message 22: by Sonia (new)

Sonia (darktalynn) | 11599 comments I'm starting to think that I should have booked a couple of weeks instead of 5 days

message 23: by Sammy (new)

Sammy (sammystarbuck) | 12860 comments Have fun Sonia!

There are also some cool Roman ruins to visit in Tarragonna, if you guys get bored of the waterpark.

I'm going to be away from the 10th of Nov until the 18th or 19th. I'll be taking some books for the flight and such, but will not be schlepping books through the desert, so less reading than usual from me that week, lol.

message 24: by Sonia (new)

Sonia (darktalynn) | 11599 comments There's the water park, the hotel, the ferrari land park and the portaventura park. Plus Salou beaches.

Yep. Too little booked time. Le sigh.

message 25: by Sonia (new)

Sonia (darktalynn) | 11599 comments I told Eni about Tarragona... we are thinking that it will be a cool place to have lunch on our way to Salou

message 26: by Sonia (new)

Sonia (darktalynn) | 11599 comments Almost time!!!!!

message 27: by Sonia (new)

Sonia (darktalynn) | 11599 comments Waiiit... The Ink Black Heart is 1272 pages?! Is she writing a series within a series?

Portuguese editors sometimes split big books into two - yep, Game of thrones unfinished series for us is 10 books - or four, like they did with Mists of Avalon.

Good thing I am buying them in English... but.. I'm considering switching to kindle format because holding that big of a book is a no no for my wrists

Judith (brownie72011) | 7434 comments Mod
I don't know why the book is that long, for this genre that's just crazy. Which it what I thought about the length of Troubled Blood which didn't quite crack the 1,000 page mark.

It's like there is some weird rule in her head that the each book has to be longer than the last. I do this series by audio so I don't have the book weight issue. Luckily they are well narrated.

God help us if this page number trend continues.

Sonia (darktalynn) | 11599 comments Judith wrote: "God help us if this page number trend continues."

I am so glad to have read this whilst not on call... my laughing would be hard to explain otherwise.

Yeah, audio might be an option.

Speaking of which, since I am traveling with just a backpack, I've decided not to bring any book nor the kindle with me. I know, shocking.

But, I have been fighting sleep to read, and my body is starting to complain. So. I'll try to take a reading break next week.

I stocked on sudoku and other puzzle books. Since considering not having a book with me gives me an eye twitch, I went to my audible app and got the latest Mercy and a TJ Klune that was on my library downloaded to my phone, and managed to stick my wired - thus plane/flight friendly - headsets in my gadget and electronics bag.

Sure, phone also has both kindle and google books apps, so, I can always access library if I want to. But I'll try not to use those to allow for proper sleep... and maybe to give electronics a break.

Steven (gallifreyan1218) | 5272 comments After reading the description and why the victim is murdered in this one, I’m definitely not picking it up. She just loves to double down repeatedly 😭

message 31: by Sammy (new)

Sammy (sammystarbuck) | 12860 comments 4 minutes to go! I've added the books I'm going to start with, and am going to shut down my PC and get ready for bed. By the time I've done that, it'll be 10 and I can dive into a book :D

message 32: by Sammy (last edited Sep 02, 2022 03:34AM) (new)

Sammy (sammystarbuck) | 12860 comments Feed (Newsflesh, #1) by Mira Grant isn't going to take long. It may be over 500 pages, but it has ridiculously huge margins!
A surprising amount of food for a zombie book though :D

Not a huge amount of food in North and South by Elizabeth Gaskell so far, sadly, but definitely enough to cobble a couple of meals together :)

message 33: by Sonia (new)

Sonia (darktalynn) | 11599 comments I'm still working on Edison (Warlocks of Amherst #6) by Taylor Rylan , but, since it can be read anytime on the series, I might start Diego's Heart (Vampires of the Beloved Gem #1) by Taylor Rylan tonight. It's not that long, but, if it keeps following the previous one, maybe I can get 4 chickens from it. The Tea is guaranteed. LOL.

Yay!

I have 4 going. LOL. 3 is normal but I have the BOM started since I'm up for DQs tomorrow which bumped it up to 4.

message 36: by Sammy (new)

Sammy (sammystarbuck) | 12860 comments I'm glad to have it out of the way, because it's one of those annoying ones where the audio only has named and not numbered chapters. Good book, awful for this challenge, lol.

That's too bad. I was thinking I would finally get to it this fall.
The tv show is one of my all time favorite mini series. I feel ashamed I haven't read it yet.

message 38: by Claire (new)

Claire | 4251 comments Yesterday I read two short books, with many ingredients. Coraline and A Prayer for the Crown-Shy Too bad we can only use 4 and 2 ingredients for them.
Prayer had fish and salt, so I suppose we're going to use that for a fish and chips

message 39: by Sonia (new)

Sonia (darktalynn) | 11599 comments Yeah, know the feeling. In my current obsession it seems they're either eating or going at it, sometimes both. So the amount of food mention is gigantic

It ended up not being too bad in the end. One of the later chapters had a fair bit of food.

I enjoyed it! I adored the BBC adaptation (hello Richard Armitage!), so it was fun picturing that as I was listening :)

So frustrating when there's so much food and you can't use much of it, and the longer books have next to nothing, lol.

We have finally arrived at the hotel, are currently taking a bit of a breather and then will enjoy a few hours in the park

Sonia (darktalynn) | 11599 comments I am back.

Vacation was awesome. I have a culinary delicacy for you... it's called pizza patatine. It's basically pizza with french fries and sausage topping.

I have proof:

message 48: by Sammy (new)

Sammy (sammystarbuck) | 12860 comments I think the next MRR should shake up the meals... Pizza instead of quiche, stew instead of curry? lol.

message 49: by Sonia (new)

Sonia (darktalynn) | 11599 comments Ohhhh, I have so many mentions of stew on the Destined Paranormals universe I have been reading.

message 50: by Sammy (new)

Sammy (sammystarbuck) | 12860 comments In winter I make stew once or twice a week. And I regularly cook one of a dozen different types...
You can put anything in a stew, lol.
