I'll admit - The Letters of J.R.R. Tolkien could have been easily read last month together with the biographies. However, I have selfishly reasoned maybe we'll benefit more with some breathing space between reading and watching the movies. I finished all the movies (and appendices) but I am still struggling with finding time to finish all those books listed in the previous months.

So, this month we'll still be on Tolkien's bio and letters, before moving on his tales of the First and Second Age. Of course, you can start right now with those if you've already done this book. Hopefully I'll catch up with you soon!

As predicted, I read the letters together with the biography. I can say the letters were tremendously interesting, because one gets a direct insight into the mind of that great author, however it is not a required reading, as one'll get the gist of them while reading any available biography of the author. So, if you are a perfectionist and Tolkien admirer, you'll read them, if not, freely skip them.
